Pokemon Champions Top Pokemon to Recruit First

To succeed in Pokemon Champions and rank up quickly, you’ll need to build a strong team. You require at least six Pokemon to compete in both single and double battles, so deciding which ones to add to your team first can be tricky.

We’ve created a prioritized list of Pokémon to help trainers quickly build strong teams in daily drafts. This list helps overcome the randomness and ensures you consistently pick the best Pokémon from the Regular Roster. This guide will show you everything you need to know about the current Roster, including which Pokémon are available and which ones you should focus on.

Which Pokemon Should I Recruit First in Pokemon Champions?

In Pokemon Champions, players can add new Pokemon to their team by participating in a daily draft at the Recruitment Ranch. This draft features a random selection of Pokemon from the current game rules (Regulations M-A). Each day, players will be presented with 10 random Pokemon and can only choose one, unless they use special items like Quick Tickets or Victory Points to speed up the process.

Want to find out which Pokémon are the best to use? Check out the Tier List below! It ranks Pokémon from S to C based on how well they perform in battles, considering their strengths, abilities, and how often they win in both single and double battles.

How to read this table: From Left To Right –

Tier (General combat prowess, Meta utility, Strength of Mega Evolution, and Movepool.

If a Pokémon is listed as “Strong in Singles,” it excels in one-on-one battles. For instance, Floette (Eternal Flower) consistently wins over 75% of its single battles, making it a top performer.

Some Pokémon are particularly strong when battling with a partner. For instance, Meowstic excels at setting up strategies like Trick Room and barriers, but really shines in Duo battles. On its own, even with Mega Evolution, it struggles against most opponents. Other Pokémon are effective in both individual battles (Singles) and team battles (Duos), and these are a good choice if you want to enjoy both game modes.

Since Pokémon will appear randomly in drafts (with the exception of Eternal Flower Floette, which needs to be brought in from Pokémon Home), players should focus on choosing those that best fit how they like to play.

While the most powerful, or ‘S-Tier,’ Pokémon are strong choices, relying on only a few popular Pokémon can actually limit your team’s potential. It’s a good idea to experiment with Pokémon from the ‘A’ and ‘B’ tiers, especially in Duo Battles, as some Pokémon really shine when paired with a teammate.

Meowstic is a good example of a Pokémon with limited battling strength, even in its Mega Evolved form. However, a support-focused Meowstic, using its Prankster ability to quickly set up Light Screen or Reflect, can be a fantastic partner for strong attackers like Garchomp, Dragonite, or Drampa. It can create protective barriers with priority, keeping its teammate safe while they power up with moves like Dragon Dance.

As a fan, I’ve noticed some Pokemon really stand out in single battles, like Greninja and Hippowdon. Greninja is already strong, but its Mega Evolution can make it a top-tier threat, depending on the matchup. Hippowdon is consistently powerful even without a Mega, which is awesome. That makes it a great teammate for Pokemon like Charizard, Lucario, or Tyranitar – ones that really need that Mega Evolution to shine. Having both a consistently strong Pokemon like Hippowdon and a powerful Mega-Evolver gives you a really well-rounded team!
