As more details about Pokemon Pokopia emerged, fans noticed the game’s setting closely resembles the classic Kanto region from the original Pokemon Red and Green games, but with significant changes revealed through leaks in late 2025 and early 2026.

After the trailers for Pokemon Pokopia were released, observant fans started recognizing things from previous games. The hilly landscape in Pokopia looked a lot like Cinnabar Island from Pokemon Red and Green, where players battled the Fire-type champion, Blaine. (Some even thought Professor Tangrowth’s glasses might have belonged to Blaine!) Pokopia’s Kanto Seems To Be A “Post-Apocalyptic” Take On The Region

Details about a game called Pokopia first surfaced in the Teraleak from mid-2025, alongside information about the still-unreleased Generation 10 Pokemon games and possible future installments in the Pokemon Legends series. Pokopia was originally planned as a farming simulator in the style of Stardew Valley, where players could employ Pokemon to help with farm work.

As the game evolved and the character Ditto was introduced, the focus moved away from traditional farming and towards building and crafting, similar to Minecraft. Interestingly, the concept of a devastated, post-apocalyptic Kanto region appears to have been part of the game’s original vision from the very beginning.

Environmental Disasters Struck Kanto’s Cities and Towns

The world of Pokopia’s Kanto region has suffered from several environmental disasters, leading to the collapse of human civilization and the desertion of cities and roads. Fans are speculating that Pokopia might be set in a different timeline. This would mean the cheerful, lively Kanto region from the main Pokemon games and anime doesn’t eventually become the desolate world we see in Pokopia, populated only by Pokemon.
