As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of Pokemon adventures under my belt, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement upon hearing that Game Freak is actively hiring! Ever since I first caught ’em all back on the Game Boy Color, I’ve been captivated by the world of Pokemon and the magic that Game Freak weaves.

Game Famous for creating the beloved Pokémon series, Game Freak, is reportedly expanding its team, recruiting professionals across multiple roles such as planners and programmers, with anticipated projects like “Pokémon Legends: Z-A” on the horizon. Since its inception in 1989, this studio has become a staple in gaming, largely recognized for its main Pokémon game creations. Although primarily associated with the Pokémon franchise, Game Freak has also ventured into smaller titles like the 2019 release “Little Town Hero”. Now, they’re on the lookout for new team members to join their ranks.

Over the last few years, Game Freak has remained actively engaged, regularly launching significant titles almost annually. The Pokemon franchise alone has seen numerous main series games over the past decade, such as Sword and Shield, Scarlet and Violet, and additional DLC for these releases. Furthermore, Game Freak is working on a non-Pokemon project titled Project Bloom, a collaborative effort with publisher Private Division that promises to be an action-adventure game. Now, the studio is looking to expand its team by offering several job openings.

Game Freak is eagerly recruiting new staff members, as they aim to break some significant patterns in their most anticipated upcoming game, Pokemon Legends: Z-A. This title will be the first time in the franchise’s history that a major new Pokemon game won’t be released for more than two years, with Scarlet and Violet set to debut in late 2022. The setting of Pokemon Legends: Z-A took fans by surprise, as Game Freak appears to have skipped over the fifth generation’s Unova region and instead focuses on Gen 6’s Kalos. Pokemon Legends: Z-A is anticipated to hit the shelves in 2025.

Fresh recruits joining Game Freak are expected to inject novel concepts and diverse talent into a renowned game developer, presumably aiming for an overhaul following some criticisms. While Pokemon Scarlet and Violet sold strongly, the latest Pokemon games received negative feedback upon release due to performance problems and subpar graphics. These two latest Pokemon games are currently rated as the lowest-ranked main series games by critics in Pokemon’s nearly 30-year span. Game Freak plans to revitalize the franchise with the 2025 launch of Pokemon Legends: Z-A.
