Okay, so this artist totally redesigned Chikorita, and it’s amazing! They took inspiration from Mega Meganium and made it way more flashy and dramatic. There’s so much cool fan art out there in the Pokemon community, but this one’s really been getting a lot of love. Honestly, as a player, I can see why – it’s a fantastic take on the little Grass-type starter!
Chikorita first appeared in the early Pokemon games, but recently gained renewed attention as a starter Pokemon in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, released in October 2025. Although Chikorita itself didn’t receive a new form in the game, its final evolution, Meganium, did—it gained a Mega Evolution. This inspired a fan to imagine what a starter-style design for the new Meganium might look like.
Mega Meganium-Themed Chikorita
A Reddit user named HertzBurst recently shared their redesigned version of the Pokémon Chikorita, drawing inspiration from Mega Meganium. The artist maintained Chikorita’s original look but added flowers around its neck, mirroring the design of Mega Meganium. These flowers featured a striking color contrast – one was mostly red, and the other was mainly white – which stood out against Chikorita’s green color scheme.
After sharing a redesigned Chikorita on the Pokemon subreddit, the artwork has received a lot of positive feedback from fans. The post has earned over 5,100 upvotes, with many users praising the new design. People are especially excited about the idea of seeing other starter Pokemon receive similar updated forms, inspired by Mega Evolutions. Luckily, the artist, HertzBurst, frequently creates Pokemon fan art and even shared a link to a previous project where they gave Rowlet, Cyndaquil, and Oshawott Hisuian forms.
Fan-made projects showcase the incredible creativity within the Pokemon community and often give us a glimpse at ideas that might not appear in official games. Beyond a recent redesign of Chikorita, fans have been sharing impressive artwork on Reddit. This has been especially true following the announcement of the Gen 10 games (Pokemon Winds and Waves) during the Pokemon Day 2026 presentation. Although the evolved forms of the starter Pokemon – Browt, Pombon, and Gecqua – haven’t been revealed yet, fans have created some fantastic designs that many hope the game developers, Game Freak, will consider for the upcoming releases.
