Pokemon Fan Art Imagines Human Forms for Caterpie Line

A dedicated Pokémon fan has created human-like versions of three original Pokémon: Caterpie, Metapod, and Butterfree. Pokémon is a hugely successful franchise that began in the late 1990s and has grown into a massive multimedia empire. It includes numerous popular video games, a thriving trading card game, and a long-running animated series with 28 seasons. The series’ iconic status continues to inspire fans around the world to create their own unique interpretations.

Now, one imaginative fan has taken that creativity a step further by redesigning some of the very first Bug-type Pokemon as humans.

Pokemon Fan Creates Impressive Caterpie Redesigns

A Reddit user named TheGoblinCodex shared some incredible artwork on the Pokemon subreddit, showing a creative take on the Caterpie evolution line. They reimagined Caterpie, Metapod, and Butterfree as human characters inspired by fantasy stories. Their Caterpie wears a hat and large backpack based on the Pokemon’s design, while Metapod is depicted as a cocoon around the original Caterpie. Finally, the artwork shows the fully evolved Butterfree with its signature wings and new armor. The artist also created a story explaining the design, saying Caterpie made a deal to become a Butterfree.

This stunning new Caterpie design isn’t the first time this Reddit user has transformed popular Pokémon into human characters. They’re working on redesigning every Pokémon from the original 151, and have already shared designs for Bulbasaur and the other first-generation starters. Each character is given a high-fantasy look and a unique backstory explaining their evolution. The user has also announced they’ll be working on a redesign of Weedle next, suggesting it will have a more serious, darker tone than Caterpie.
