A dedicated fan of Pokémon has come up with three fresh concepts for mega evolutions, introducing innovative transformations for Scrafty, Yanmega, and Malamar. These imaginative redesigns have been warmly appreciated by the Pokémon community for their originality, with some expressing hope that they could appear in a real Pokémon game someday.
At last, we can mark our calendars for the release of Pokemon Legends: Z-A, which is set to drop in October 2025. With the game hinting at a return of Mega Evolutions, fans’ creative minds have been buzzing nonstop, conjuring up theories on how various Pokemon could be transformed through Mega Evolution. Now, an enthusiast has unveiled their latest conceptualizations to the community.
On Reddit, user ByeBloom posted their fresh ideas for Mega transformations of Scrafty, Yanmega, and Malamar. In the revamped design of Scrafty, the red crest on its head has expanded, and the once loosely fitted yellow skin, only seen on its shoulders and lower body, now resembles an open jumpsuit due to its expansion across the rest of its body. ByeBloom mentions that their ideas were sparked by a mix of street fighters, prison jumpsuits, and for the Shiny form, leaders of Japanese biker gangs known as Bosozoku. Yanmega’s Mega Evolution features its limbs folding inward, with its distinct wings merging into a central area that resembles helicopter rotor blades. Malamar’s Mega Evolution, presented both upside down and standing upright, takes inspiration from Elder Illithids and ink pens. Its legs have been replaced by tentacles or a pen nub, depending on its orientation. ByeBloom also added a Shiny “Flying Spaghetti” version for Malamar, which alters the color scheme and twists the tentacles into shapes resembling spaghetti on a fork.
Pokemon Fans React to New Mega Evolutions
In the comments section, users have expressed their opinions about the three fan-created Megas. Most seem to appreciate the designs quite a bit, with many finding the idea of Yanmega transforming into an attack helicopter particularly amusing. Many fans also wish that these designs were part of official titles themselves. Additionally, some fans mentioned they’d be delighted if these weren’t just temporary Mega Evolution boosts but new evolutions in general.
As a devoted Pokémon enthusiast, I can’t help but feel a tinge of sadness as the roster grows ever larger. It seems unavoidable that not every Pokémon will receive an upgrade or new form. Yet, the ingenuity of fans ensures that no Pokémon is completely forgotten. However, many of us still yearn for our beloved Pokémon to have more limelight in future games. Some even fret that the abundance of fan-created designs might lead to more discarded Pokémon, as seems to have happened in at least one previous game. Regardless, a significant portion of the fanbase remains eagerly anticipating the next artistic masterpiece conceived by fellow fans.
