Despite not being very popular, one artist imagined what a Mega Evolution for the Pokémon Luvdisc might look like. They also suggested how this evolved form could perform in battles, and other fans shared ideas on how to make it even stronger.
Luvdisc, also called the Rendezvous Pokemon, was first introduced in the Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire games. It has a distinctive heart-shaped body and dark eyes, and is frequently spotted swimming in pairs in warm, tropical seas. Because of its shape, Luvdisc is often seen as a good luck charm for couples within the Pokemon world. In the wild, Luvdisc sometimes carries a Heart Scale, which can be exchanged for moves that Pokemon would normally learn by leveling up. While it’s a good source of Heart Scales, Luvdisc isn’t considered one of the most powerful Water-type Pokemon, though it does have a naturally high speed stat.
Pokemon Fan Art Depicts What Mega Luvdisc Could Look Like
Fans have created a lot of artwork featuring Luvdisc over the years, and one artist recently imagined what a Mega Evolution of the Pokémon would look like after the release of Pokémon Legends: Z-A. A Reddit user named KikiMongoose shared their design for Mega Luvdisc on the Pokémon subreddit. This version keeps Luvdisc’s Water-type but adds the Fairy-type, much like Pokémon such as Primarina. The design includes a heart-shaped tail and golden fins, along with smaller heart-shaped fins on its sides. Mega Luvdisc’s color scheme uses various shades of pink and yellow, with a pastel pink accent on its mouth and side fins. KikiMongoose even designed a Mega Stone for Luvdisc, featuring two shades of pink and gold detailing. Pokémon fans have given KikiMongoose’s Mega Luvdisc design a very positive response.
So, I was reading a discussion about how useful Luvdisc could be in competitive Pokemon, even though I’m still pretty new to the whole scene. Someone pointed out that a Mega Luvdisc could be a good support Pokemon in Double Battles because it’s naturally really fast. But a lot of people quickly jumped in saying that Luvdisc’s overall low stats would probably carry over, making a Mega Evolution not very powerful. Then, others suggested that if Mega Luvdisc got an ability like Huge Power, it could actually be a threat, boosting moves like Liquidation and Facade. It’s interesting because in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, Luvdisc can have abilities that need rain to work – Swift Swim and Hydration – so weather could be key if it ever did get a Mega Evolution.
The Next Pokemon Games Could Feature Plenty of Water Types
Even though Luvdisc doesn’t currently evolve, it might appear in future Pokemon games. With the Pokemon franchise celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2026, The Pokemon Company is planning a big celebration. They recently shared a fun social media post featuring Pikachu and a Poke Ball, hinting that 2026 will be an amazing year. They also asked fans to remember Pokemon Day on February 27, 2026.
So, The Pokemon Company always does a big presentation on Pokemon Day, and it’s a safe bet they’ll do one for the 30th anniversary too! There’s been a lot of chatter online about the next games – people are calling them Pokemon Wind and Pokemon Wave – and leaks suggest the new region might be based on Indonesia and Southeast Asia, like a tropical archipelago. That got me thinking about Luvdisc – since it’s a Water-type that loves warm waters, I’m really hoping it shows up in these new games and maybe even gets a bit of a makeover!
