As a long-time Pokémon gamer, I can’t help but get excited every time there’s news about new Mega Evolutions or other battle gimmicks in the series. The return of Mega Evolution in Pokémon Legends: Z-A is particularly thrilling for me because it’s been a while since we last saw this feature, and I’ve always believed that the Kalos starters deserved their own Mega forms.
Fans of Pokemon frequently create unique monster designs, with a notable trend being Mega Evolutions. An artist has recently unveiled their personal interpretations of mega transformations for the three starter Pokemon from the Kalos region: Chesnaught, Delphox, and Greninja. The hype surrounding the Gen 6 Pokemon games has increased significantly since the announcement of Pokemon Legends: Arceus earlier this year. This upcoming game, scheduled for release next year, will allow players to revisit the Kalos region for the first time in over a decade.
Introduced for the first time in “Pokemon X and Y,” Mega Evolution became a significant game feature, preceding other battle mechanisms like Z-Moves and Terastallization. This transformation has remained popular among fans as it enables Pokemon to surpass their final evolution, acquiring impressive new looks alongside enhanced stats. However, Mega Evolution has been missing from recent “Pokemon” releases, last seen in the Gen 7 games. To everyone’s astonishment, this feature is set to make a comeback in the upcoming “Pokemon Legends: Z-A.”
Fan artists have been imaginative and unveiled numerous custom Mega Pokemon designs this year, with Mystreek being one of them who presented potential mega forms for the three Kalos starters. The Pokemon community has pondered for long why the games introducing Mega Evolution failed to provide mega forms for the region’s starter Pokemon. In response, fans have created their own versions over the years, and Mystreek’s designs have recently gained significant attention. These fan-made designs subtly alter the appearance of the original Pokemon while equipping each one with a weapon based on its type.
What These Custom Mega Pokemon Look Like
The highly-awaited comeback of Mega Evolution in “Pokemon Legends: Z-A” has ignited intense debates among the vast Pokemon community. Fans are still discussing which Pokemon they think should get their own mega form, fueled by the game’s brief and sole reveal trailer that has sparked a lot of conjecture and fan creations.
Unfortunately, there’s still a lot of uncertainty surrounding the details of “Pokemon Legends: Z-A.” More than six months after its announcement, we don’t have much official information about it yet. We do know that Mega Evolution will make a return, but the number of new mega forms is unclear. The game appears to be set primarily in Lumiose City, offering players an all-new adventure as they explore this significant location from the past and witness its transformation into the well-known landmark in the “Pokemon” universe.
