A passionate Pokémon fan recently spent about 100 hours crocheting an amazing version of Mosslax, a new form of Snorlax that will appear in the upcoming Pokémon Pokopia game. Even though Pokémon Pokopia isn’t out yet, fans are already loving the cute Mosslax.
Pokemon Pokopia is a life simulation game within the Pokemon universe where you play as a Ditto disguised as a human. It’s aiming to combine the fun of Pokemon with the relaxing gameplay of Animal Crossing, and is scheduled to release on March 5, 2026. Unlike most Pokemon games, this one isn’t being developed by Game Freak, but by Koei Tecmo’s Omega Force, bringing a new perspective to the series. Recently, the game introduced Mosslax, a unique form of Snorlax covered in moss after sleeping for a very long time – a funny idea that’s already excited fans.
Pokemon Pokopia’s Mosslax Has Already Been Crocheted, and It’s Adorable
A Reddit user named phinerz shared their amazing crochet creation of the Pokémon Mosslax, which they made while anticipating the release of Pokemon Pokopia. They said they made it so Mosslax could “wait with me.” The project took around 100 hours, and the impressive detail shows that time commitment. The size of the Mosslax also contributed to the length of the process – it’s quite large and takes both hands to hold! Phinerz shared details about how they achieved Mosslax’s fluffy sherpa and fleece texture, and used felt for the teeth. It was a fascinating look at the making of this Pokémon crochet, and fellow fans on the subreddit loved it.
I’ve been following this thread, and everyone is absolutely loving phinerz’s Mosslax creation! One person even said they’re desperate to make a beanbag version, but aren’t sure where to start with the pattern. It’s amazing how quickly Mosslax – and even the new Peakychu – have captured everyone’s imagination! Someone asked if phinerz plans to crochet Peakychu too, and the good news is, it’s definitely on their to-do list!
The Pokémon fanbase consistently impresses with its incredible artwork and creations. Over the past three decades, each new Pokémon generation has sparked a wave of fan-made designs. However, with so much fan art available, it takes something truly special to get noticed. And phinerz’s crocheted Mosslax definitely fits that bill.
Pokemon fans have a lot to be excited about! While the highly anticipated Pokemon Pokopia arrives on March 5, 2026, there’s more coming this year. The Pokemon Company just announced that Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen will be available on Nintendo Switch and the new Nintendo Switch 2 starting February 27th, letting players experience these beloved classics in a fresh way. Plus, there’s talk that we might even see the announcement of a new generation of Pokemon (Generation 10) later this year, which would be a fantastic way to celebrate the franchise turning 30.
