Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen feature all 151 of the original Pokémon, leading players to believe they can obtain Mew. These games were the very first Pokémon remakes, originally released in 2004 for the Game Boy Advance as enhanced versions of the classic Pokémon Red and Blue. To commemorate the franchise’s 30th anniversary, Nintendo Switch owners will soon be able to enjoy these titles on the latest Nintendo console.
Following the strong sales of Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen, many fans are eager to revisit these classic games. However, some confusion has arisen. The games were originally advertised as being compatible with Pokemon Home, but that feature has now been removed from official descriptions, leaving players unsure if it will be available in the new Switch versions. Additionally, fans are wondering how they’ll be able to find Mew, the rare Mythical Pokemon, which is expected to be included in the game.
Nintendo’s website says the upcoming Switch versions of Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen will feature all 151 original Pokemon. This includes Mew, but it’s interesting because Mew was never actually catchable within FireRed and LeafGreen themselves. Originally, in the Game Boy Advance days, players needed to obtain Mew through a special event in Pokemon Emerald and then trade it to FireRed or LeafGreen to complete their collection.

How Can You Get Mew in Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen on Switch?
Fans are hoping Nintendo will add a way to get Mew in the Switch versions of Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen, similar to how special events were used in the past. If not in those games, perhaps it will appear in a future Switch release of Pokemon Emerald. As of now, Nintendo hasn’t announced plans to bring any other Generation 3 Pokemon games to Switch, so it looks like Mew won’t be available when FireRed and LeafGreen launch on February 27th, unless Nintendo has a surprise in store.
