Pokemon Gen 10 Leaks ‘Infinite’ Region With Procedurally Generated Islands

Recent leaks suggest the next *Pokemon* games (Generation 10) will include islands created using a procedural generation system. This means the game could create new areas dynamically, building on an idea *Pokemon* briefly experimented with in Generation 3.

On October 13th, Centro Leaks—a Twitter user with a good track record for sharing accurate *PokĆ©mon* leaks—posted several new details about the upcoming *PokĆ©mon* games from Game Freak (Generation 10). They claim the new games will be called *PokĆ©mon Winds and Waves* and will focus on the idea of infinity. The games are also reportedly set in a region inspired by Southeast Asia, especially Indonesia.

Pokemon Winds and Waves Will Reportedly Feature an Infinite Archipelago

According to Centro Leaks, the next *Pokemon* games will feature endlessly expanding islands created through procedural generation, meaning the game world will be technically limitless and constantly changing. The games’ evolution system for base-level Pokemon will also be significantly expanded, allowing for a huge number of different variations when they evolve. Leaked information refers to these base Pokemon as “Seed Pokemon,” but this seems to be a direct translation of a Japanese term used in the trading card game, and doesn’t suggest a new type of baby Pokemon.

Pokemon Games Already Experimented With Randomized Islands

Randomly generated areas aren’t new to the *PokĆ©mon* series. Previous games like *PokĆ©mon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald* featured Mirage Island, which appeared on certain days based on a random chance, despite having a fixed layout. The remakes, *Omega Ruby* and *Alpha Sapphire*, updated this with Mirage Spots on Route 130, offering slightly more variety in layout but still using a similar unpredictable appearance system.

Centro Leaks didn’t reveal where they got their most recent information, which is typical for them. A lot of their recent claims seem to come from the large “Teraleak” – a massive online release of internal documents from Game Freak related to PokĆ©mon. Even if this new information is correct, things can always change during game development; features might be reduced or even removed completely.

For years, Game Freak has typically released new core PokĆ©mon games every three years. However, they’re breaking that pattern. While *PokĆ©mon Scarlet* and *Violet* will be three years old on November 18th, a new main series game hasn’t been announced. Instead, the next release is *PokĆ©mon Legends: Z-A*, coming out this Thursday, October 16th. We likely won’t see a new main series PokĆ©mon game until late 2026, but an announcement could happen on PokĆ©mon Day, February 27th.
