Summary
- Moltres, Zapdos, and Articuno may be appearing in Dynamax Raids from January 20 to February 3.
- The news was posted to the official Saudi Arabia Pokemon GO Twitter page but was quickly deleted.
In an unexpected turn of events, it’s been announced that Dynamax Raids featuring Moltres, Zapdos, and Articuno will debut in Pokemon GO towards the end of January. The concept of Dynamax Pokemon was initially introduced in Pokemon GO back in September 2024, however, these new legendary creatures mark the first time they’ll appear in the game.
For decades, the three mythical birds from the Kanto region in the Pokemon universe have been cherished by fans. Consequently, Moltres, Zapdos, and Articuno, along with their Shiny versions, were incorporated into raids when Pokemon GO was initially launched. In 2023, the Galarian bird trio began appearing in Daily Incense spawns within Pokemon GO, although they have a lower chance of showing up compared to common Pokemon. Since October 2024, players have had the opportunity to encounter Shiny variants of the Galarian legendary birds as well. It appears that Pokemon GO may be planning to introduce another iteration of the Kanto Birds in the near future, as suggested by a recently deleted official announcement.
According to Reddit user nintendo101, a tweet posted by the official Pokemon GO account in Saudi Arabia hinted at the appearance of Moltres, Zapdos, and Articuno in Dynamax Raids from January 20th to February 3rd. However, the post was later removed, suggesting that the developers might have been keeping this information under wraps. If this leak is indeed accurate, it could boost the appeal of Max Battles since some Pokemon GO players have been shying away from Max Raids.
Pokemon GO Accidentally Reveals Moltres, Zapdos, and Articuno Dynamax Raids
Introducing the trio of Dynamax birds could potentially lead to an influx of renowned legendary Pokemon appearing in Max Raids in the near future within “Pokemon Sword and Shield”. Since “Pokemon GO” already has Dynamax versions of Mewtwo, Ho-Oh, and others, it’s plausible that its legendary Pokemon could also receive this treatment. It’s uncertain if these new legendary Max Raids will be tougher than the current ones. Previously in October, “Pokemon GO” faced criticism regarding Max Raids due to their difficulty, particularly when players couldn’t assemble 40 people for each battle. Whether these problems resurface with Dynamax legendaries is yet to be determined.
2025 has seen a flurry of exciting announcements for Pokemon GO, with one announcement following another from Niantic. Mark your calendars for January 25, as Ralts is set to take center stage during the next Community Day Classic in Pokemon GO. In addition, a Shadow Raid Day has been scheduled for January 19, featuring the powerful Shadow Ho-Oh. To sweeten the deal, players will be able to receive up to seven free Raid Passes from Gyms during this event. And if that wasn’t enough, the hosts of Pokemon GO Fest 2025 have just been revealed: Osaka, Jersey City, and Paris!
