As a seasoned gamer with over a decade of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that the recent update in Pokemon GO has taken the game to a whole new level. The ability to join friends in raid battles effortlessly is not only a testament to Niantic’s commitment to improving the game but also a clever way to foster community engagement among players.
In the latest update for Pokemon GO, they’ve included a new element that simplifies group raids among players. Engaging in mass-scale raids within Pokemon GO is an exciting method to catch some of the scarcest Pokemon in the game, and this latest feature allows friends to join each other’s raid battles, boosting their collective power.
Initially, raids weren’t incorporated into the Pokemon GO game. This augmented reality game was created to motivate physical activity among Pokemon enthusiasts by having them traverse the real world to find Pokemon. However, it wasn’t until the summer of 2017, around a year after the game’s debut, that raids were introduced. Since then, Niantic, the publisher and developer, has made several modifications to their raid system, emphasizing not only exercise but also community bonding. This latest update further strengthens the community by urging players to check on their friends list.
Players now have the ability to view their active in-game friends who are currently participating in raids, and even join them for battle. According to the official Pokemon GO website, this is achieved by accessing the Friends tab on your Trainer Profile, sorting your list using the “At a Raid” option found under the drop-down menu. This will display all friends who are waiting to enter a raid. By selecting your friend’s information, you can check details about the specific raid such as the number of trainers in line. If a spot is available and you have a Pokemon GO Remote Raid Pass, you can easily join the queue by tapping the Battle button.
Pokemon GO Makes Raiding with Friends Easier
In this gameplay method, there are certain restrictions on which raids can be participated in. Although nearby players can utilize the friend list to join each other’s raids using a standard Raid Pass, it appears that the new feature is primarily designed for those wanting to participate in a friend’s raid from afar. Consequently, Pokemon GO Shadow Raids, Elite Raids, and any other raid types not typically accessible with a Remote Raid Pass cannot be joined via the friends list. Furthermore, players have the choice to conceal their raid activity from their friends’ view, and those joining through the friends list won’t be granted the ability to invite others to participate.
Beyond this, the game development team has tackled a glitch that prohibits players from re-entering raids via their friends list following accidental disconnections or network issues. Niantic assures that this problem will be rectified in an upcoming update for Pokemon GO. Players who believe they have been unfairly deprived of a Raid Pass due to the glitch can contact the app’s support team by submitting a ticket, which may result in the replacement of the lost pass in their inventory.
