As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I must admit that the recent announcement by Niantic about their partnership with McDonald’s for Pokemon GO has left me both excited and somewhat skeptical. On one hand, the prospect of exclusive events and bonuses at my local McDonald’s is an appealing one – who doesn’t love a good Lure Module or Raid Battle? But on the other, I can’t help but wonder if this is just another attempt to cash in on the nostalgia of the 90s.

Niantic, the creators of Pokemon GO, have announced a new collaboration with McDonald’s in the USA, spanning across the Dual Destiny season. During specific weeks, Pokemon GO players can collect more bonuses than normal by visiting McDonald’s restaurants. This is made possible due to the unique Gyms at these locations.

From March 4, 2025, until then, “Pokemon GO: Dual Destiny” is active, with regular monthly events such as Community Day events taking place throughout the season. In 2025, players will also experience “Pokemon GO Tour: Unova,” which features fresh narratives inspired by “Pokemon Black and White” and unique in-person events in Los Angeles and New Taipei City. The Dual Destiny season also signifies a collaboration between “Pokemon GO” and McDonald’s, providing fans with additional chances to develop as Pokemon trainers.

The partnership between Pokemon GO and McDonald’s officially kicks off, starting on Monday, December 16 and running through Sunday, December 22. During this period, players of Pokemon GO can visit specially designated PokeStops or Gyms at participating McDonald’s restaurants across the US. At these designated locations in Pokemon GO, players will find Pokemon drawn by Lure Modules and have the opportunity to engage in five-star raids at the Gyms. These Lure Modules and Raid Battles will be accessible daily from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., according to local time, during each week of the collaboration.
