As a long-time fan of Pokemon GO, I am thrilled to hear about the upcoming Safari Zone and City Safari events in South Korea and Indonesia! Having attended my first Safari Zone event back in 2017, I can attest to the unique excitement that comes with these ticketed experiences. The opportunity to encounter rare and exclusive Pokemon, as well as engage with the local community, is truly unparalleled.

In September, Pokemon GO is hosting a new Safari Zone and City Safari event in South Korea and Indonesia. A Safari Zone is a regular ticketed event in Pokemon GO that takes place at various locations worldwide. Previously, Niantic introduced City Safari as a new format for the Safari Zone experience. Instead of visiting a specific location, trainers now explore the host city itself.

I’ve been an avid Pokémon GO player since its inception, and one of my favorite experiences has been participating in the Safari Zone events. The first one took place in 2017, inviting trainers from Germany, France, and Spain to engage in real-life activities, encountering Pokémon from Kanto and Johto. Since then, this exciting event has traveled to various countries like Brazil, Japan, and Canada. Last year, the City Safari made its debut in South Korea, offering shiny Eeveelutions as rewards for dedicated trainers like myself. Now, both the City Safari and the Safari Zone are back in Pokémon GO, bringing new opportunities for trainers to earn special rewards and bonuses.

In September, Pokemon GO is organizing a City Safari and Safari Zone event in Jakarta, Indonesia, and Incheon, South Korea. The Jakarta leg of this event is named “Pokemon GO City Safari: Jakarta” and is scheduled for September 21-22 as part of Pikachu’s Indonesia Journey. During this period, unique Pokemon like Flying Pikachu, Tropius, and Noibat will appear. For the first time in Jakarta, trainers can encounter Skiddo, and completing a special research task will result in an encounter with Eevee wearing an explorer’s hat. Players have the opportunity to hatch Gible and three other Pokemon from 7 KM eggs, and Pichu, Togepi, and Mantyke from 2 KM eggs. Trainers with tickets will enjoy advantages such as a higher chance of discovering shiny Pokemon, longer-lasting Lure Modules, and reduced Stardust cost for trades.

Pokemon GO Announces New Safari Zone and City Safari Events

  • Pokemon GO City Safari: Jakarta: September 21-22
  • Pokemon GO Safari Zone: Incheon: September 27-29

At Songdo Central Park in Incheon from September 27-29, Pokemon GO’s Safari Zone event will take place. During this period, participants can encounter unique Pokemon like Pikachu donning a safari hat, Feebas, and the elusive Unown I, C, and N. These last three creatures are among the rarest found in Pokemon GO. Similar to the City Safari in Indonesia, ticket-holding South Korean players will enjoy extra trading opportunities and an exclusive medal as part of the event perks.

For Asian “Pokemon GO” players in September, there are plenty of exhilarating experiences to anticipate. At the same time, global trainers have much to be excited about as well. In the upcoming Ultra Unlock Raid Day, Mega Lucario makes its debut in “Pokemon GO,” marking the long-awaited addition of this highly anticipated Mega evolution by Niantic. Furthermore, during the Ultra Unlock: Strength of Steel event, Shiny Togedemaru will be introduced to the game. Lastly, Poplio has been confirmed as the Pokemon highlighted in August’s Community Day.
