2023 took me by surprise as a gamer when Niantic accidentally dropped Black and White Kyurem into the world of Pokemon GO! Last year, rumors swirled about their release, but as time passed and no new Pokemon appeared during the events, I started to doubt it would ever happen. But now, it seems my dreams will come true – I can’t wait to finally catch both Black and White Kyurem soon!

In a fresh tweet, Niantic announced that the mythical Pokemon White and Black Kyurem will be joining Pokemon GO in the days ahead. The announcement is part of the GO Tour: Unova event within Pokemon GO, where developers are introducing White and Black Kyurem into the game. Since the event centers around the Unova region, which was highlighted in Pokemon Black and White, the arrival of Kyurem may not be unexpected by fans. Players can expect to encounter Black and White Kyurem during raids, and they might even capture the shimmering variant of this Pokemon. The worldwide GO Tour: Unova event is scheduled for March 1 and 2 from 10 AM to 6 PM local time.

Black and White Kyurem Are Coming to Pokemon GO

As a gamer, I’m super hyped to tell you about an upcoming feature that’s reminiscent of last year’s Necrozma fusion in Pokemon GO! This time, we’ll be able to fuse Kyurem with either Zekrom or Reshiram. To do this, you’ll need 1,000 Volt Fusion Energy for the Black Kyurem and Zekrom combination, 30 Kyurem Candy, and 30 Zekrom Candy. For the White Kyurem and Reshiram fusion, it’s 1,000 Blaze Fusion Energy, another 30 Kyurem Candy, and 30 Reshiram Candy. The fused form will stick around until you decide to separate them, which is a cool thing because it’s free! The energy needed can be earned by triumphantly defeating Kyurem in raids. Can’t wait to try it out myself!

During the fusion, the newly combined forms will receive additional attacks. Specifically, Black Kyurem’s fusion will acquire Freeze Shock, while fused White Kyurem will gain Ice Burn. Moreover, participants in this event will have access to some exclusive backgrounds within the game. There are two distinct backgrounds inspired by Pokemon Black and White that can be obtained. If you manage to fuse a Black Kyurem with Zekrom or a White Kyurem with Reshiram, both special backgrounds become accessible. Furthermore, an additional unique background will be available for those who successfully unlock both.
