Enthusiasts of the mobile game Pokemon GO are urging Niantic to introduce a useful item that could enhance player’s chances of finding Gigantamax Pokemon. The popular mobile game, developed by Niantic, offers numerous distinctive mechanics for its in-game creatures, emulating many of the gimmicks present in the main-series games.
The integration of the sixth generation of Pokemon into Pokemon GO led to the introduction of Mega Pokemon, while the game’s recent emphasis on Galar introduced Dynamax Pokemon. However, one specific Pokemon mechanism remains hard to come by.
Last year, the concept of Gigantamax Pokemon was introduced in Pokemon GO for the first time, featuring some of the impressive boss Pokemon initially seen in Pokemon Sword and Shield. The only way players can discover Gigantamax forms of Pokemon is by participating in six-star Raid Battles within Pokemon GO, with the unique Gigantamax mechanic being limited to “Max Battle” Raids. As of now, the game has thirteen distinct Gigantamax Pokemon in its lineup, including both the Kanto and Galar Starter’s Gigantamax versions. Currently, players are requesting that Pokemon GO make it slightly simpler to obtain these Gigantamax Pokemon.
Reddit user kiriito has put forward an idea for an innovative new feature in Pokemon GO: a tool provided by Niantic that enables trainers to transform their existing Dynamax Pokemon into Gigantamax versions. The user mentions one of their own Pokemon, a nearly perfect shiny Toxtricity, which they’d be willing to swap for the Gigantamax variant. Other enthusiasts propose that Niantic could introduce a similar item, possibly using existing Max Mushrooms, to give non-Dynamax Pokemon the ability to Dynamax.
Pokemon GO Fans Want Niantic to Add Gigantamax Item
The responses to the post revealed fans swiftly identifying a comparable item with equivalent functionality that’s already present in the core Pokemon games. In Pokemon Sword and Shield‘s “Isle of Armor” expansion, Max Soup was introduced, enabling players to enhance their Pokemon to their Gigantamax forms. Some fans proposed that Niantic might consider adopting a similar concept; however, others cautioned that it’s possible the developer would attach a high price tag for upgrading a Pokemon to its Gigantamax variant.

The idea for enhancing Gigantamax Pokemon arises as Niantic might be preparing to unveil another significant feature in the world of Pokemon. According to recent rumors, after the end of Max Finale, Niantic may soon incorporate various ninth-generation Pokemon into Pokemon GO. The prospect of new creatures like Ogerpon and Terapagos could hint at the possible arrival of the Terastal mechanic from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet in Pokemon GO. It seems that both Niantic and Pokemon GO have a lot of exciting content planned for the rest of 2025.
