Summary
- Pokemon GO Fest 2025 will be held in Osaka, Jersey City, and Paris, with unique Pokemon for each location.
- New shiny Pokemon, legendary Pokemon, and exclusive rewards are set to debut during the upcoming GO Fest.
As a diehard fan, I’m thrilled to share that Niantic, the brilliant minds behind Pokemon GO, have unveiled all the details for this year’s Pokemon GO Fest! This annual extravaganza is our chance to immerse ourselves in the world of Pokemon GO, and it brings a host of exciting perks. During the event, we can expect increased Stardust rewards, additional Candy for catching Pokemon, exclusive event-only Pokemon to catch, and much more! The inaugural Pokemon GO Fest kicked off in 2017, initially taking place in Chicago but quickly expanding across the globe. Not only do we get these global events yearly, but there are also in-person festivities happening in various cities worldwide.
It’s worth mentioning that at present, Pokemon GO and the development studio Niantic are under negotiations to be bought by Scopely, a fellow American video game publisher and developer from California. Known for games such as Monopoly GO, Scopely shares similarities with Niantic in their industry. The acquisition of Niantic by Scopely for $3.5 billion has sparked concerns among some fans, who fear potential modifications to Pokemon GO and other AR games from Niantic. Yet, Scopely has promised to prioritize player experiences post-sale, allaying some worries about increased monetization strategies. Rest assured, Pokemon GO Fest continues unabated after the sale, ensuring trainers can still participate in the annual celebrations without a hitch.
2025’s Pokemon GO Fest events will kick off on May 29 at Osaka, Japan, then shift to Jersey City, USA on June 6, and conclude in Paris, France on June 15. A worldwide event is scheduled for June 28 and 29 as well. Each of these Pokemon GO Fest locations will feature unique Pokemon to capture, with Osaka hosting Chansey and Snorlax, Jersey City showcasing Meowth and Beldum, and Paris introducing Sableye and Rhyhorn, among others. Additionally, Torkoal, Pachirisu, and Klefki will be available during the global event, being regional exclusive spawns that players can find using incense.

During the GO Fest event in Pokemon GO, you’ll encounter not only special Pokemon found using incense, but also brand new shiny versions of Carbink and Frigibax. The latter will be exclusive to raids, much like previously introduced Dragon-type shinies. Additionally, Hawulcha will show up at all live events, and Fan Rotom will appear in Snapshots. Lastly, the legendary Pokemon Zacian and Zamazenta from Pokemon Sword and Shield will be available in 5-star raids.
Fans of Pokemon GO in various regions might get a chance to try out a fresh rewards system ahead of GO Fest in May. Starting now, the game is piloting its GO Pass service, offering benefits to those who purchase the deluxe pass. This perk includes incense, which will prove useful for Pokemon that only appear with incense during GO Fest. The rewards unlocked via GO Pass expire on Thursday, May 8, at 10 AM local time, so players should remember to redeem their rewards before they expire.
