As a dedicated gamer, I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be encountering Kingambit, a Gen 9 beast, in an exciting new event coming up in May! It’s no secret that Pokemon GO has been steadily expanding its roster with more creatures from the Paldean region. Right now, we’ve got nearly fifty of these fascinating critters to catch!
2025 marked the introduction of several critters from the region Paldea into Pokemon GO, such as Shroodle, Fidough, and their respective evolutions. Moreover, during the Horizons Celebrations event, Tinkatink and its evolutionary line were launched. The developers have now confirmed that another creature from Paldea is coming to the mobile game.
During the upcoming “Crown Clash” event from May 10th to 18th in Pokemon GO, a new monster called Kingambit will be introduced. This Dark/Steel-type creature is the final evolution of Pawniard, following Bisharp. To evolve Bisharp into Kingambit, players must have Bisharp as their buddy and defeat 15 Pokemon of either the Dark or Steel type in Raids. However, it’s not necessary to use Bisharp during these Raids. During the event, Pawniard will be available in one-star Raids, with the possibility of encountering its shiny form as well. Kingambit is a powerful ally and could potentially become one of Pokemon GO‘s top Steel-types, so players should seize the opportunity to add it to their collection. Furthermore, the event will reward players with double experience points for evolving Pokemon and an increased chance of encountering shiny Nidoqueen and Nidoking adorned with crowns.

Kingambit’s premiere isn’t the only exciting happening in May; Pokemon GO has announced a Raid Day starring Mega Kangaskhan on May 3, and there’s another event centered around Baby Pokemon planned as well. Further events are likely to be unveiled in the near future, as players eagerly await updates regarding the arrival of Kubfu’s evolutions.
Even though Kingambit’s launch is yet to come in a few weeks, Pokemon GO has an action-packed calendar for the rest of April. Starting from April 24, the Sweet Discoveries event will introduce Applin into the game. Moreover, a Dynamax Entei Battle Weekend is scheduled for April 26, offering players various rewards and bonuses to relish throughout this period too.
