Can you feel the autumn air? The Harvest Festival is now happening in Pokémon GO! This fall event starts today, October 10th, and lasts until 8 PM local time on October 16th – the same day the Pokémon Legends: Z-A game is released.
This event is exciting because it adds two new Pokémon – Dipplin and Hydrapple – to the mobile game. These are different forms of Applin that were first seen in the expansions for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
This guide covers everything about the Harvest Festival in Pokémon GO, including the Research Tasks and Collection Challenges. We’ll also explain how to evolve Applin into Dipplin and Hydrapple. Be aware that the evolution process is different than how it works in the Scarlet and Violet games.
What are the Event Bonuses for the Harvest Festival Event in Pokemon GO?

Free players can enjoy three special bonuses during the Harvest Festival. If you’d like even more rewards, you can buy the Candy Apple ticket for $5, which will unlock two additional bonuses.

As a big Pokémon Go fan, I’m really excited about getting Dipplin! You definitely want to put Mossy Lure Modules on PokeStops whenever you can because that’s how you get the Syrupy Apples you need to evolve Applin. And if you decide to buy a ticket for the event, the double duration on those modules is *super* helpful – it means you’ll get even more Apples!
How to Evolve Applin into Dipplin (and Evolve Dipplin into Hydrapple) in Pokemon GO
To evolve Applin into Dipplin in *Pokemon GO*, you’ll need a lot of resources: 200 Applin Candy and 20 Syrupy Apples. Then, to get Hydrapple, you’ll need even more – 400 Applin Candy – and you must catch 7 Dragon-type Pokemon while having Dipplin as your buddy Pokemon.
If you want to earn extra Applin Candy, make sure to set either Dipplin or Applin as your walking partner right after you catch one of these Apple Pokémon!

The reason you encounter Pumpkaboo and receive rewards is because of the Pumpkin Patch Collection Challenge. This challenge asks you to find Pumpkaboo in four different sizes: Small, Average, Large, and Super.
Harvest Festival Collection Challenges in Pokemon GO
Pumpkin Patch, Honeycomb Harvest, & Olive Orchard
- To complete the Pumpkin Patch Collection challenge, you will need to catch the four sizes of Pumpkaboo. As a reward, you’ll get 5000 Stardust, a Mossy Lure Module, and an encounter with Applin (completing the Field Research tasks can help with this).
- To complete the Honeycomb Harvest Collection Challenge in Pokemon GO, catch a Combee and evolve it into Vespiquen. However, before you feed it 50 Combee Candy, make sure your Combee is female (there are no male Vespiquens!). You will get 2500 Stardust, an Applin encounter, and a Syrupy Apple.
- And last but not least, to complete the Olive Orchard Collection Challenge, you’ll have to get Smoliv, evolve it into Dolliv, and then evolve it into Arboliva. You’ll need 25 Candy for the first evolution and 100 for the second. The reward for this challenge is 2500 Stardust, an Applin encounter, and another Syrupy Apple.
Can Applin, Dipplin, and Hydrapple Be Shiny in Pokemon GO?
Not Yet
When Applin was introduced to *Pokémon GO* earlier this year, it didn’t have a shiny form. Even with the recent additions of Dipplin and Hydrapple, none of these Pokémon are currently available in shiny versions in the game.
What to Focus on During the Harvest Festival 2025
Now that Dipplin and Hydrapple are available, your priority should be collecting as much Applin Candy and Syrupy Apples as possible! Don’t forget to use the extra apples from PokeStops and, if you purchased a ticket, take advantage of the longer-lasting Mossy Lure Modules.
It’s best to quickly set Applin or Dipplin as your Buddy Pokémon so you can begin earning extra Candy. You’ll require a total of 600 Candy to fully evolve them, so start collecting now!
