Beginning September 2025, you’ll have the opportunity to participate in the Pokémon GO Weekly Challenges. This feature encourages teamwork as you can create a group and collaborate on overcoming challenges together. Successful groups will be rewarded with valuable items and experience points (XP) necessary for leveling up. The developers implemented Weekly Challenges to emphasize the social aspect of the game. This guide will walk you through starting, joining, and understanding every detail about Weekly Challenges in Pokémon GO.

Pokemon GO: What Are Weekly Challenges?

Weekly Challenges are social activities where trainers participate together to finish them. You can create a team with three fellow Pokémon GO friends to join and complete a Weekly Challenge. As it’s called a Weekly Challenge, you and other trainers have the opportunity to engage in one each week.

In this exciting update for Pokemon GO, you aren’t bound by location when playing with your in-game friends. Regardless of where they are, they can join your team! This new feature doesn’t have any specific prerequisites other than having a minimum of three trainers involved. You can pick and choose your team members from your friend list, they don’t necessarily need to be nearby. The more you accomplish the Weekly Challenges, the swifter you’ll raise your friendship level within the group.

The Weekly Challenges in Pokemon GO differ from the weekly Spotlight events, as the latter are accessible to all players simply by logging in.
