Pokemon GO is Launching a Special Pokemon TCG Collaboration

Pokemon GO is hosting a special event to mark the launch of a new Pokemon Trading Card Game product. The event features new Timed Research and special Mega Raids. Recently, the game’s ‘Tales of Transformation’ event brought exciting updates like Mega Evolutions, new Pokemon, and unique forms. Mega Metagross appeared for the first time, and players also met Pokemon like Poltchageist and costumed versions of Teddiursa and Noibat. Now, a new event is underway to celebrate a major release within the wider Pokemon franchise.

The Pokémon Trading Card Game has also been generating a lot of excitement recently with several new releases. The introduction of “Mega Evolution” marked a new chapter for the game, bringing Mega Pokémon back into play for the first time since the “XY: Evolutions” set. Another expansion, “Phantasmal Flames,” is coming in November, featuring Mega Charizard as the main attraction. Now, Pokémon GO and the Pokémon TCG are joining forces for a special event.

To celebrate the new Mega Lucario ex Figure Collection from the Pokémon Trading Card Game, Pokémon GO is hosting a special in-game event. From November 7th to November 30th, players can complete Timed Research by visiting participating retailers like Best Buy, GameStop, Target (in the US), and EB Games (in Canada and Australia). These locations will also have more Mega Lucario raids and offer bonus cosmetic items when you purchase Pokémon GO gift cards.

Pokemon GO is Partnering with the Pokemon TCG

  • Runs from November 7 through November 30
  • Increased Mega Lucario Raid spawns
  • Timed Research missions granting more XP, Stardust, and a Lucario encounter
  • Special Lucario Mask cosmetic for purchasing Pokemon GO Gift Cards
  • Best Buy, GameStop, and Target (United States)

The latest team-up between Pokémon GO and the Trading Card Game isn’t the first time these two popular games have crossed over. Back in 2022, the Pokémon TCG released an entire set of cards based on the mobile game, including classic Pokémon alongside trainers and features like PokéStops and Lure Modules. Pokémon GO has also partnered with stores before, many of which appear as PokéStops where players can collect items.

With 2025 nearing its end, Pokemon GO has a lot planned for fans to enjoy before the year is out. Niantic has revealed the first event for November: “Enchanted Hollow,” which introduces the new Pokemon Tarountula and Spidops. A November Community Day is also confirmed for November 30th, although the featured Pokemon hasn’t been announced yet. Pokemon GO is set to celebrate the holiday season with plenty of fun events for players globally.
