Pokemon Go leaks claim iconic starter will headline first Dynamax Raids

As a seasoned Pokemon Go player with over a decade of gaming under my belt, I must say that the upcoming Dynamax and Gigantamax forms are sending chills down my spine! Ever since I caught my first Bulbasaur back in the day, I’ve been eagerly waiting for its evolution, Venusaur, to get the GMax treatment.

Anticipated Dynamax and Gigantamax features are set to arrive soon in Pokemon Go, and recent rumors reveal the initial groups of creatures that will be showcased during Raid fights.

Although Dynamax is a novelty introduced in Generation 8, it’s worth noting that players can encounter some species from Generation 1 during Raids, starting with the adored Bulbasaur lineage.

Dynamaxing (DMax) is a feature where a Pokemon transforms into an enormous version of itself, enhancing its HP, much like Raid Bosses do. But unlike regular battles, the moves they use come with additional effects. Gigantamax (GMax), on the other hand, is similar to Dynamaxing, but during this transformation, the particular Pokemon species undergoes a change in appearance.

According to a post from The Pokemod Group, they assert that Bulbasaur is set to receive the Dynamax enhancement first in Pokemon Go, using the term “Bread” (a code name for Dynamax coined by developers at Niantic) to refer to this feature.

In simpler terms, the first Pokémon, Bulbasaur, has been configured to utilize a special feature called “Dynamax (Bread)”. This configuration is linked with the “BreadTierGroups”, and for Bulbasaur, it’s been specifically assigned as “GROUP_1”. This information comes from data mining in Pokemon GO.

The neighborhood buzzed with anticipation upon hearing about the update, as people speculated that the tier groups mentioned in the leaks might hint at the legendary starter’s ultimate evolution. One enthusiast posted, “If this is true, it would mean that Bulbasaur could evolve into a Venusaur with a GMax boost!”

It’s more logical to present Venusaur as the initial Gigantamax form, given that Bulbasaur is the first Pokémon listed in the Pokédex.

In addition to fan favorites like Charizard, Blastoise, Pikachu, Eevee, Butterfree, Machamp, and Kingler, these iconic Generation 1 creatures also possess special GMax forms. As such, it’s anticipated that they will be part of the initial rollout for Dmax and GMax in the game, potentially making their appearance during the upcoming season starting September 3, 2024.

Anticipating the formal unveiling of Dynamax and Gigantamax features in Pokémon Go, I’d recommend setting aside my top-tier IV and shimmering versions of Generation 1 Pokémon. These could prove to be formidable assets for Raids and Team Go Rocket battles when these new mechanics are introduced.
