For years, die-hard Pokémon GO enthusiasts have been eagerly awaiting an increase in the game’s level cap. At long last, Niantic has announced that this upgrade is on its way! The October 2025 update will significantly boost the maximum level achievable in Pokémon GO.
As a devoted Pokémon GO enthusiast, I can hardly recall a moment when the level cap wasn’t set at 50. This has been the case ever since it was raised in November 2020, which is nearly five years ago now. We went from Level 40 to Level 50, and it’s remained this way until recently. But that’s about to change!
Pokémon GO Level Cap Will be 80 From October 15
In simple terms, on August 25, the official Pokémon GO X account announced some exciting changes. Starting this October, they plan to boost the maximum level from 50 to 80 and adjust the entire level-up experience to make it more balanced.
A thorough examination of the Pokémon GO website uncovers additional information: On October 15, 2025, the Pokémon GO platform is set to roll out an update that raises the maximum level from 50 to 80. This update aims to enhance the leveling experience by introducing new rewards, cosmetics, and other exciting elements when reaching level milestones. Additionally, some players may find themselves advancing in levels due to their accumulated XP. However, rest assured that no player will see a decrease in their current level.
The overall adjustments indicate a more frequent earning of levels for players, with some jumping levels automatically starting from October 15, as stated in the blog post.
No one will move down levels, so you don’t need to worry about this.
