As a die-hard Pokemon GO enthusiast with years of experience under my belt, I must say that this latest feat by Glitch, the music producer, is nothing short of extraordinary! Catching a shiny Jirachi on top of Mauna Kea, one of the tallest mountains in the world, is a testament to the lengths trainers will go to in their quest for that elusive 100%.
As a devoted Pokémon GO enthusiast, I recently managed to snag a shimmering Jirachi on one of the world’s loftiest peaks. With this game, we get to transform into trainers and hunt for these cute critters in real-world locations, making it possible for us players to discover Pokémon in the most unexpected spots.
Players of the game Pokemon GO have already found ways to catch Pokemon at a variety of locations, such as weddings, public restrooms, trash cans, and even during sporting events like baseball games. In their mission to collect them all, trainers of Pokemon GO have ventured to unusual spots including abandoned buildings, adult entertainment venues, cornfields, and even religious institutions, all in the pursuit of powerful Pokemon. Since its debut, tales of players finding Pokemon in unexpected places have become quite common. However, a particularly noteworthy Pokemon GO player recently gained virality by capturing an exceptionally rare Pokemon in a remarkable location.
Music producer and avid Pokemon GO player ‘Glitch’ managed to snag a rare, shiny Jirachi atop one of the world’s tallest mountains – Mauna Kea in Hawaii. This remarkable achievement was marked by her posting photos from the summit of this iconic peak, where she successfully completed the challenging Masterwork Research Wish Grant in Pokemon GO, earning the elusive shiny Jirachi. Standing 10,205 meters tall, Mauna Kea, a dormant volcano, holds the title when considering mountains that start below sea level, surpassing Mount Everest’s 8,848 meters above sea level.

In their responses, other Pokemon GO players praised the music producer’s accomplishment, who is currently in Hawaii for the 2024 Pokemon World Championships. Notably, the official Pokemon account also acknowledged the player’s achievement as “iconic.” The Masterwork Research Wish Granted was introduced last year as a reward for those who either finished the Pokemon GO Tour Hoenn Las Vegas or purchased the premium ticket. These trainers were given the opportunity to capture a shimmering Jirachi, one of the most elusive Mythical Pokemon in the franchise.
In 2023, only those players who complete certain research will get to catch Shiny Jirachi in Pokemon GO. However, this game continues to offer thrilling activities for all trainers. This month, trainers have been able to capture Mega Rayquaza and various fossil Pokemon during events. In anticipation of the 2024 Pokemon World Championships, a new research mission has been introduced in Pokemon GO, offering rewards like encountering a Sableye that knows Fast Attack Shadow Claw and Charged Attack Foul Play. Towards the end of this month, there will be August’s Community Day Classic featuring Beldum, an earlier form of Metang.
