The current season in Pokemon GO, called Memories in Motion, is coming to an end on June 2nd. This season introduced popular Pokemon like Silicobra, Flittle, and Mimikyu. The next season will lead up to Pokemon GO Fest Global 2026 in July. Before the main event, Pokemon GO usually hosts smaller GO Fest events in different cities, giving players a sneak peek with early bonuses and rare Pokemon. This year, the celebration began in Tokyo in late May, where one player had an incredibly lucky catch!

Pokemon GO player FleeceKing had an amazing experience at GO Fest Tokyo 2026, catching a rare and powerful shiny Shadow Groudon with perfect stats (100% IV) in a 5-Star Raid. He shared a video of his excited reaction, which has already gotten over 7,000 likes on Twitter. The chances of catching a shiny Legendary Pokemon in a raid are about 1 in 20, and getting one with perfect stats is roughly 1 in 216. This means the odds of catching a shiny Pokemon with perfect stats – a ‘shundo’ – are about 1 in 4,320, making FleeceKing’s catch incredibly special. Shadow Groudon is already known as one of the strongest Shadow Pokemon in the game, so this particular Groudon is considered the ultimate version a player could hope for.

What makes FleeceKing’s accomplishment even more impressive is that their Shadow Groudon has a special background themed after Tokyo. This background was only available to players who got a limited event ticket for GO Fest Tokyo. While the main event starts May 29th, ticket holders could get these special Pokémon backgrounds as early as May 25th. FleeceKing previously made history as the first player worldwide to reach Level 50 in Pokémon GO back in 2021, and this unique Groudon is another remarkable achievement. “I just won Pokémon GO!” the excited content creator exclaimed.
Following the event in Tokyo, in-person Pokémon GO Fest events will be held in Chicago and Copenhagen this June. The global event will then take place online from July 11th to 12th. Looking ahead to 2026, Pokémon GO Fest will introduce Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y through special Super Mega Raids, and players will also be able to encounter the Mythical Pokémon Zeraora through Special Research.

Pokemon GO has already confirmed that its next season, Forever Forward, will run from June 2 to September 8.
