Summary
- Encountering a Shiny in Pokemon GO doesn’t always lead to success due to the game’s capture mechanics.
- Pokemon GO players have to rely on using berries and Poke Balls to catch Shinies.
- It’s recommended to hunt for rare Pokemon on foot to avoid speed-related issues and capture losses.
As a dedicated Pokémon GO player, I expressed my disappointment when I missed the chance to capture a coveted Shiny Pokémon. Spotting a Shiny in Pokémon GO usually brings an exhilarating rush, but not every encounter has a happy ending for me.
In most mainline Pokemon games, Shinies are a common feature, but the method of catching them varies in Pokemon GO compared to standard games. Instead of weakening or debuffing wild Pokemon, as done in traditional Pokemon games, players in Pokemon GO can only use berries and Poke Balls for catching creatures. Additionally, certain aspects of Pokemon GO can make capturing Pokemon more challenging.
Player Final_Program6588 shared their disappointment over Pokemon GO, expressing that they despised the game after coming across a Shiny Alakazam, only to have it escape capture. The posted screenshots revealed a wild Shiny Alakazam with a Combat Power (CP) of 1394 initially appearing, followed by one showing it fled before being caught. It’s understandable that they felt frustrated, as losing a powerful or rare Pokemon like this Shiny Alakazam can be incredibly annoying or even heartbreaking for many players, depending on their current collection within the game.
Why Did the Shiny Alakazam Run Away?
Players of Pokemon GO in their comments showed empathy towards Final_Program6588 but also questioned what led to the failed capture attempt. Some hypothesized that Final_Program6588 might have been restricted by a speed limit, as a series of Pokemons had escaped swiftly before the Alakazam encounter. Final_Program6588 acknowledged this was true, revealing they had been using incense while traveling in a vehicle, hoping to come across a Shiny Galarian legendary bird. However, fellow players were quick to remind them that even though Shiny legendary birds usually don’t flee during the catch process, they are still subject to speed rules and will escape if the player is moving too fast during the encounter.
It turned out to be a positive surprise for Final_Program6588 when they stumbled upon an unexpected situation during their gameplay. They previously owned a Shiny Alakazam, so although this encounter was frustrating, it didn’t result in a significant loss. However, if they had encountered the Shiny Galarian legendary bird they were searching for and lost it because of their speed, that would have been much more disappointing. Some players advise waiting until your vehicle stops before attempting to catch a Pokemon, but experiences can vary. In the end, playing the game as intended, on foot, is the most effective approach when hunting for rare Pokemon.
