Pokemon GO players are sharing their frustrations about how the game sometimes doesn’t respect their time. While there’s a lot to enjoy in Pokemon GO, some activities seem to take up too much time without offering enough reward, potentially wasting hours for dedicated players.
Pokémon GO is almost at its 10-year mark, having first launched to huge popularity in July 2016. The game has evolved a lot since then with new features and improvements, but players still have suggestions for making it even better. Common requests include the ability to skip cutscenes and making some game processes more efficient.
Pokemon GO Players Are Tired of Waiting

Players of Pokemon GO are discussing frustrating parts of the game on Reddit and suggesting improvements. The conversation started when a player named Entire_Pineapple4732 expressed annoyance with the evolution cutscenes and asked for a way to skip them. While some fans noted that these cutscenes have never been skippable in core Pokemon games, Entire_Pineapple4732 pointed out that most players don’t evolve hundreds of Pokemon in a typical game. However, because Pokemon GO has been around since 2016, many long-time players have evolved that many Pokemon and are tired of watching the same cutscenes repeatedly.
I was reading through the Pokémon forums and someone, Entire_Pineapple4732, did the math on how much time we all spend watching evolution cutscenes! Apparently, they’ve evolved over 3,500 Pokémon, which adds up to more than 14 hours just watching those little animations. But then someone else chimed in saying they’ve evolved 72,000 Pokémon – that’s over twelve days spent watching the same thing! It sounds about right, honestly. Everyone seems to agree the cutscenes take way too long. A lot of people are hoping they’ll let us mass evolve Pokémon, or at least skip the animation after you’ve evolved a ton – maybe after getting that Scientist Platinum medal they give you for evolving 2,000 Pokémon. It would be a huge quality of life improvement!
Pokemon GO Players Point Out Other Unnecessary Time Sinks They Want Changed
Okay, so I’ve been seeing a lot of other players complain about little things in Pokemon GO that just feel like time wasters, and honestly, I kinda agree. Like, why can’t we just open and send all our gifts at once? It’s super annoying. And those cutscenes when you purify Shadow Pokemon? They’re cool at first, but after a while, you just want to skip them! People also want to be able to trade multiple Pokemon at the same time. Look, I don’t mind putting time into the game if I’m actually playing, but it’s frustrating when I’m stuck doing repetitive stuff or watching things I can’t speed up. It’s about making the game fun, not just time-consuming!
As a long-time Pokémon GO player, I’m always curious about potential changes. Someone recently brought up a good point: letting us skip the evolution animation used to be a big deal because it would have let people grind XP super fast. But now that the level cap is higher and they’ve generally made it easier to earn XP, it probably wouldn’t be as game-breaking as it once would have been. It’s interesting to think about how changes to the game can change what’s considered an exploit!
Even though many players don’t expect major changes after so long, Scopely might update the game’s core features to celebrate its tenth anniversary. Until then, players will need to be patient while waiting for their Pokémon to finish evolving.
