Pokémon GO has given players more room for items! The game now automatically rewards you with extra item storage as you level up. This is happening even for players who leveled up recently, so if you’ve been playing, you might find you have a lot more space for potions, berries, and other useful items.
Many Pokemon GO players struggle with having too many items. A full item bag prevents players from collecting more resources at PokeStops, which can disrupt Research Tasks and daily rewards. Although an update in June boosted item and Pokemon storage by 700 slots, players still need to purchase upgrades – each 50-slot increase costs 200 PokeCoins.
Pokemon GO’s Item Bags Just Got a Lot Bigger
A recent update to Pokémon GO has given players up to 400 extra item slots in their inventory – and it’s completely free! According to an announcement on the game’s official Twitter, players now receive more free storage space as a reward for leveling up. Players who have already reached level 80 will immediately see the full 400 slots added to their bags. While Scopely hasn’t shared a complete list, players at lower levels will also get some extra space right away, with the chance to unlock even more as they progress towards the level cap.
Before October 15th, the highest level a player could reach in Pokemon GO was 50. An update that month added 30 new levels, automatically increasing the level of anyone who was already at 25 or higher. However, this caused a problem: players received lots of items as level-up rewards, and many instantly filled up their item storage just by logging in. This frustrated players because while the items were helpful, they couldn’t play the game normally with a full item bag.
The recent increase in free storage space appears to be a response to player concerns, but some feel it didn’t come soon enough. Many players have already deleted free items received in October to free up space for spinning PokeStops. Others are hoping Scopely will also offer more free Pokemon storage as rewards for leveling up.
