Before the Kalos GO Tour event, Pokémon GO is offering players a chance to get up to four free Unown simply by subscribing to their official YouTube channels. As the current Precious Paths season ends on March 2nd, several events are planned for the final week of February. Players can look forward to Legendary Raids, and there’s even a possibility of a very rare Pokémon returning if certain objectives are met.
Unown are notoriously difficult to find in Pokémon GO. These Pokémon from the Johto region are very rare, appearing much less often than most others. The easiest way to catch them is during special events that highlight specific Unown. Because there are 28 different forms of Unown, many players still have some to collect! Luckily, Pokémon GO just announced a new event giving players another chance to add more Unown to their Pokedex.
Pokemon GO Players Have a Chance to Catch X, Y, Z, and A Unown
Pokémon GO is giving players a chance to earn free Unown (X, Y, Z, and A) through a special event on YouTube! By subscribing to any of the official Pokémon GO YouTube channels and helping them reach certain subscriber goals, players can unlock these rare Pokémon. Reaching 2,500 subscribers will unlock Unown X, 5,000 will unlock Unown Y, and 10,000 will unlock both Unown Z and A. Once these goals are met, Pokémon GO will share special codes to access Timed Research that rewards the Unown. Players have until February 27th to help reach these subscriber milestones, just in time for the Kalos region GO Tour event.

The official Pokémon GO YouTube channel has over 1.2 million subscribers, though channels for specific regions like Indonesia and Taiwan have much smaller followings, with less than 10,000 subscribers each. While the developers haven’t clarified if subscriber counts include only new followers, it seems Pokémon GO is trying to grow all its channel audiences. Even if fans don’t reach the subscriber goals to unlock special Timed Research codes, they can still catch the four Unown Pokémon during the Road to Kalos event. Players who purchase the Deluxe GO Pass for the event can encounter Unown A, Z, X, and Y at levels 17, 52, 69, and 78, respectively.
It’s usually rare to find four different Unown, so hopefully players who don’t spend money on the game can complete the necessary tasks in time. While they’re at it, from February 23rd to 27th, players can enjoy daily Legendary Raids featuring popular Pokémon like the Legendary Birds, Primal Kyogre and Groudon, Black and White Kyurem, and others. There will also be extra perks, such as shorter egg-hatching distances and Raids featuring Pikachu in costume.
During the Kalos GO Tour from February 28th to March 1st, players can add not only the four Unown to their Pokedex, but also find and catch many other rare Pokemon more often – perfect for collecting Candy. Right after the event, Pokemon GO will begin a new 10th anniversary season called Memories in Motion, which promises to introduce even more popular Pokemon.
