Players of Pokémon GO are pointing out a frustrating issue with solo Raids and are asking for it to be fixed. It’s not a major problem, but for those who frequently do Raids, it can be quite annoying.
Some players enjoy the simple act of catching Pokemon in Pokemon GO, but for others, the real fun comes from Raid Battles. These battles have been updated several times over the years, often based on what players have said. Now, the community is hoping for another improvement to the Raid Battle system.
Pokemon GO Players Call for Change to Raid Timer
A player on Reddit, FlyEffective4468, highlighted an issue with the timing of raids in Pokemon GO. They explained that when playing raids solo, players have to wait through a timer unnecessarily. After using a Raid Pass to enter a raid, a 120-second timer appears. Players can’t start the raid until the timer counts down to 90 seconds, even if they are the only player participating. Then, even after they’re ready to go, there’s an additional 10-second wait before the raid actually begins.
Players have suggested a few ways to fix this problem. One idea is to let players immediately press the ‘ready’ button when they enter a Raid by themselves. Another is to remove the 10-second wait after pressing ‘ready’ for solo Raids, since it’s unnecessary. It’s worth remembering that starting a solo Raid used to take much longer in Pokemon GO – two full minutes! The ability to quickly ready up was only added in 2024, reducing the wait to 40 seconds. Even with that improvement, players still believe there’s room to make the process even faster.
Many players have shared similar frustrations with the Raid timer system in the comments. A frequent problem is getting disconnected when trying to join Raids while traveling in a car. The 30-second preparation time requires players to stay close to the Raid location, and moving too far or too quickly results in being kicked out. Some users have even had to ask the driver to stop and wait. While this might be the developers’ attempt to prevent people from playing while driving, the system doesn’t seem to recognize if a player has already indicated they are a passenger or are walking. It’s unclear if the developers will address these concerns and further improve the Raid wait times.
