Pokemon GO Quietly Changes Controversial Research

Highlights

  • Pokemon GO has made it easier to complete Special Research, changing the task to catch 10 different species.
  • Players celebrated the adjustment, as previously some got stuck trying to catch rare Pokemon like Emolga.
  • Niantic listened to feedback from the community and made the change, showing they are paying attention to players.

As a long-time Pokemon GO player, I can’t help but feel relieved and grateful for Niantic’s recent adjustment to The Dawn of a New Discovery Special Research. For years, we have encountered numerous challenges while completing research tasks in the game, and getting stuck was an all too familiar experience.

Pokemon GO‘s latest update, “The Dawn of New Discoveries,” has subtly simplified Special Research tasks. Niantic continues to excite fans with new content, but occasional glitches can impede progress. For instance, during the rollout of fresh research projects, players may encounter hurdles that hinder their advancement within the game.

Last year, I found myself stuck on Zygarde’s Special Research in Pokemon GO. The scarcity of Routes made it a real struggle for me and other trainers to catch Pokemon and collect the necessary Zygarde Cells to transform the Legendary beast. Taking a snapshot of Landorus during that Season of Legends was another challenge that left many players, including myself, unable to finish the Special Research. Thankfully, Niantic recognized the frustration in the community and provided us with assistance.

In simpler terms, the second phase of “Pokemon GO”‘s Dawn of a New Discovery Special Research now requires catching ten Pokemon of various types instead of picking one among Emolga, Ducklett, and Crabrawler as earlier. (Reddit user wolfmarci1’s observation)

Pokemon GO Players Celebrate the Change in Newest Special Research

In the post’s caption, the OP expressed joy with the exclamation “We’ve made it!” after overcoming the previous challenge in Pokemon GO. Previously, unfortunate trainers were stalled at the Dawn of a New Discovery Special Research, requiring the elusive Emolga for progress. Even those who selected Ducklett or Crabrawler encountered frustration as these Pokemon seemingly vanished upon being chosen. However, some Reddit users shared tales of becoming stuck midway through the task, despite having amassed enough Pokemon to finish it.

Niantic, the developer behind Pokemon GO, has responded to community feedback, making a change that hasn’t received extensive media attention yet. This demonstrates their attentiveness to player concerns, despite no reported modifications to research rewards. As a result, players will continue to encounter Emolga, Ducklett, or Crabrawler based on their chosen paths. Additionally, an encounter with the legendary Cosmog remains an exciting reward for those seeking Necrozma fusions in Pokemon GO.
