Okay, so Pokemon GO just announced a new event called the Carnival of Flamigo! Basically, they’re adding the Flamigo Pokemon to the game, which is awesome. It looks like they’re still bringing in Pokemon from the newest generation, Gen 9, and honestly, I’m super excited – it won’t be long before I can finally catch one!
Since launching in July 2016, Pokemon GO has consistently added new Pokemon to its collection. Although the game doesn’t include all Pokemon, it boasts hundreds for players to catch. However, with so many already added, Scopely is starting to run low on Pokemon to include. For instance, they’ve added all available Pokemon from the first three generations. Luckily, newer regions like Galar and Paldea still have plenty of creatures that can be added to the game.
New Event for February 2026 Adds Flamigo to Pokemon GO
Scopely is launching the “Carnival of Flamigo” event in Pokemon GO starting February 3rd and running through February 8th, 2026. The event introduces Flamigo, a Pokemon from the newest generation, which players will be able to find in the wild. Along with Flamigo, keep an eye out for other Pokemon like Lotad, Buneary, Pikipek, and Spritzee as you play!
During the Carnival of Flamigo event, you’ll have a better chance of finding Shiny Lotad, Spritzee, and Pikipek. The event also boosts your chances of finding Pokémon with double the effectiveness of Incense and longer-lasting Daily Adventure Incense. Plus, you’ll earn 500 extra Stardust each time you catch a Flamigo!
Event Bonuses
- 2× Incense duration.
- 2× Daily Adventure Incense duration.
- 500 Additional Stardust for catching Flamigo.
- Increased chance to encounter Shiny Lotad, Shiny Spritzee, and Shiny Pikipek.
Although you can find Flamigo by playing Pokemon GO normally, a special February event will offer extra ways to catch it. New Field Research tasks are being added as part of the Carnival of Flamigo, and completing them will give you chances to encounter event Pokemon. You can also complete event-themed Collection Challenges for a shot at catching Flamigo, along with earning XP and Stardust.
During the Carnival of Flamigo event, special Timed Research quests will be available for a limited time, both for free and with a paid option. The free Timed Research offers rewards like Incense, Stardust, and chances to catch Pokémon featured in the event. For $4.99, players can unlock the paid Timed Research, which includes a Star Piece, a unique avatar pose, event Pokémon encounters, and other goodies. Remember to claim your rewards from both the free and paid Timed Research before February 8, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. local time.
Scopely is planning to regularly add new Pokémon to the mobile game. They’re hosting an event called “Into the Depths” from January 27th at 10:00 a.m. to February 1st at 8:00 p.m. local time, which will introduce Glimmet, a Pokémon from the newest generation, to the game.
It’ll be fun to see which Pokémon are added to the game soon. We might see more Pokémon from the Paldea region, but the next major games are expected in 2026. When those games come out, a lot more Pokémon will likely become available, giving players even more to collect in Pokémon GO over the next few years.
