Pokemon GO Reveals New Feature for the Game’s 10th Anniversary

Pokémon GO has launched a new feature called “What’s Your Favorite?” that lets players share pictures of their Pokémon. This update is part of the celebrations for Pokémon GO’s 10th anniversary, and it’s available to try out today.

The past year has been busy for Pokemon GO. The game added a bunch of new Pokemon through special events, including creatures from the Paldea region like Dudunsparce and Tatsugiri. Players also got more to work towards when the level cap was raised from 50 to 80 in October, along with increased rewards. And it looks like the developers aren’t stopping anytime soon – they’ve already held several events in 2026!

Pokemon GO Adds “What’s Your Favorite?” Camera Feature

In addition to the events planned for 2026, the creators of Pokemon GO have introduced a new camera feature called “What’s Your Favorite?” This feature celebrates both the 10th anniversary of Pokemon GO and the 30th anniversary of the Pokemon series. It allows players to take photos with any Pokemon they choose, even those they haven’t yet caught in the game.

The developer explains that taking photos is easy: just select the Pokémon you want and snap a picture. A timer is available for solo photographers. You can also personalize your photos with stickers and frames. Keep in mind, though, that you can’t use Pokémon in their alternate forms, like Max Pokémon.

In addition to the new “What’s Your Favorite?” feature, Pokemon GO is offering a special set of tasks with rewards. However, it seems this offer is only for players who are new to the game, according to the official blog and reports from other players. New players can earn items, a chance to catch a Gengar, and 100 PokeCoins by simply taking a photo with the “What’s Your Favorite?” feature when they create their account and then logging in within three days. Those who complete the tasks have until March 31, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. local time to collect their rewards.

It’s not surprising some players were disappointed that this special in-game event was only available to new accounts. Long-time players felt they deserved a reward for their years of loyalty to the game, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary. While some people on Reddit reported seeing a different event for existing players, others said they weren’t able to access it.

More Games

Even though 2026 has just begun, the game developer has already held several events for players. In January, they hosted Community Days with boosted spawns of Grookey and Piplup. They also launched events early in the year to add new Pokémon from Generation 9, like Flamigo and Glimmet, to Pokémon GO. Looking ahead, the upcoming Road to Kalos event will give players a chance to catch 15 different Legendary Pokémon.

The Pokemon Franchise Turns 30 This February

The developer plans to add new content soon that should please both new and existing Pokémon fans. Keep an eye out for the Pokémon Presents livestream on February 27th – it’s expected to be a big event as the Pokémon franchise celebrates its 30th anniversary! We might even see some news about Pokémon GO during the presentation, though it’s still uncertain what will be announced.
