Pokemon GO Reveals New Shiny Debut for Precious Pals Event

A new event called Precious Pals is coming to Pokémon GO, and it will introduce Shiny Fidough to the game! During the event, players can earn extra hearts by walking with their Buddy Pokémon, and they’ll have increased chances of finding rare, Shiny Pokémon.

Fidough, often called the Puppy Pokémon, was introduced in the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet games. Its adorable appearance and Fairy-type abilities quickly made it popular with fans. At level 26, Fidough evolves into Daschbun, which has a strong defense and is a useful Fairy-type Pokémon in the Paldea region. In Pokémon GO, Fidough debuted in January 2025 during a special event called Fidough Fetch. It takes 50 Fidough Candies to evolve Fidough into Daschbun in Pokémon GO. As Daschbun, this Fairy-type Pokémon can use moves like Fire Fang and Play Rough in battle.

Shiny Fidough is Coming to Pokemon GO in Late January

After the High Zaptitude event finishes in January, Pokemon GO players can look forward to the Precious Pals event. This event will mark the first chance to catch Shiny Fidough, along with other rare, Shiny Pokemon. The Precious Pals event is part of the Precious Paths season and will run from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM local time, starting on Tuesday, January 20th, and ending on Sunday, January 25th.

When the Precious Pals event starts in Pokemon GO, players will be able to catch Shiny Fidough and Shiny Daschbun, with Daschbun available by evolving it. During the event, there will also be more opportunities to find a Shiny Goldeen by hatching Eggs or finding it in the wild. Keep an eye out for Shiny Zorua, Wimpod, and Espurr appearing in the wild too! You can even hatch a 2 km Egg for a chance to find Shiny baby Pokemon like Togepi, Riolu, and Happiny.

During the Precious Pals event, it will be easier to evolve certain Pokémon. Normally, evolving Eevee into Sylveon requires earning 70 Hearts with it as your Buddy and using 25 Eevee Candies, but during the event, you’ll only need 20 Hearts. Similarly, evolving Pancham into Pangoro will only require catching 10 Dark-type Pokémon instead of the usual 32, and evolving Pawmo into Pawmot will only need 5 kilometers of walking instead of 25. So, if you’re hoping to get Sylveon, Pangoro, or Pawmot, it’s best to wait until the Precious Pals event begins to make the process simpler.

During the Precious Pals event in Pokemon GO, players who purchase the Precious Pals Ultra Ticket Box for $4.99 will unlock special Paid Time Research. This event will run alongside the January 2026 Pokemon GO Pass event, offering a chance to encounter the Legendary Pokemon Dialga. By purchasing both, trainers can earn multiple rewards at once. All Pokemon GO players will also be able to participate in event-themed Field Research Tasks and Collection Challenges throughout Precious Pals.

Even though Pokemon GO is starting to run out of new Pokemon to include, players might soon hear about what’s next for the Pokemon franchise. With Pokemon GO reaching its 10-year milestone in 2026 and the Pokemon series celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, it will be interesting to see what The Pokemon Company and Scopely announce.
