In September 2025, the content update for Pokemon GO has been revealed, with Mega Sharpedo making its first appearance in special raids as the main attraction. Additionally, some beloved Pokemon from Kanto are set to return in Pokemon GO next month, alongside themed events and a variety of rotating Mega Evolutions, among other exciting new features.
In simple terms, the regular updates for Pokemon GO usually feature raids, various rewards for trainers, and Spotlight Hours. The upcoming plan for September 2025 is expected to maintain a similar structure.
Next month’s gaming lineup includes the much-anticipated debut of Mega Sharpedo on September 7th. This exciting event will occur during another Pokemon GO Raid Day, a three-hour extravaganza scheduled from 2pm to 5pm local time. Unlike with some other pocket monsters, there will be no separate shiny debut for Mega Sharpedo; instead, it will have the potential to appear as a shiny creature. As usual, players must complete a raid to find out if they’ve been lucky enough to capture a shiny Mega Sharpedo. However, during this Raid Day, the odds of finding a shiny version will be enhanced, following standard Raid Day rules.
Pokemon GO September Content Update Overview

In the upcoming month, Pokemon GO’s Mega Raid lineup features some beloved characters from Kanto, starting on September 2 with Mega Venusaur, Mega Charizard X and Y, and Mega Blastoise. These raids will last until September 9, after which Mega Pidgeot and Mega Gyarados take over. Another rotation occurs on September 16, bringing Mega Gardevoir, Mega Latias, and Latios, along with Mega Gallade into the scene for a week. The final full week of September (September 23-30) will feature Mega Kangaskhan and Mega Lopunny. Following this, Mega Raids featuring Mega Steelix, Mega Scizor, and Mega Lucario will be available. All of the September Megas have a chance to appear as shinies throughout their respective timeframes.
Starting on September 2nd, Pokemon GO’s Season 20 is set to commence. The festivities will commence with a Kanto Celebration event, offering players the chance to encounter various regional Pokemon in the wild, experience legacy move evolutions, and battle Dynamax versions of the legendary birds-Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres-through paid Special Research.
During this event, special collection challenges will be introduced, which players can complete to earn Mega Energy. The Kanto Celebration will continue until September 7th, concluding at the same time as the Mega Sharpedo Raid Day.
During the Spotlight Hours in September 2025 for Pokemon GO, you’ll encounter Pidgey, Trubbish, Gothita, Hoothoot, and Aron, respectively, every Tuesday, specifically from 6 to 7 PM local time, just as usual.
