Summary
- Shadow Ho-Oh event lets players use Remote Raid Passes for the first time.
- The event allows both in-person and remote players to tackle Shadow Ho-Oh.
- Hopefully, more online options will be available for Pokemon Go players in the future.
As a dedicated Pokémon Go fan, I’m thrilled to share that my long-awaited request is about to come true! The forthcoming Shadow Ho-Oh event will mark a historic moment as we can now utilize Remote Raid Passes in Shadow Raids – an exciting new feature that I can hardly wait to experience firsthand.
One bothersome feature when using Pokemon Go is the requirement for physical gatherings for activities such as Shadow Raids and Max Battles. These events allow players to meet Shadow Legendaries, formidable shadowy versions of legendary Pokemon, and face off against Dynamax and Gigantamax Pokemon in Max Battles.
Niantic is now enabling players to participate in Shadow Ho-Oh Shadow Raids from the comfort of their homes, thanks to Remote Raid Passes, as announced on the official Pokemon Go site.
Shadow Ho-Oh Can Be Battled Online
The Shadow Ho-Oh Raid event will take place on Sunday, January 19, 2025, between 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., local time. During this period, both in-person and online players are invited to join forces to challenge the powerful Fire/Flying-type Legendary Pokemon, Shadow Ho-Oh, simultaneously.
For quite some period, players living in rural areas or smaller communities had difficulty accessing content such as Shadow Raids in Pokemon Go. The main reasons were that these activities were extremely difficult and also necessitated the use of numerous Purified Gems to pacify the Shadow Pokemon.
It’s puzzling to many players that despite the immense strength of Shadow Pokemon and the limited availability of Legendary creatures through Shadow Raids, most players can’t afford the opportunity to battle them due to their high cost.
It’s likely that the Shadow Ho-Oh Raid will pave the way for numerous adjustments designed to facilitate online play in Pokemon Go, and it seems that Max Battles may be the next feature to receive updates based on the Remote Raid Pass.
It’s logical that Niantic aims to preserve the sense of community and exploration within Pokemon Go, but it can sometimes be difficult for players to interact with the game physically. Enhancing Pokemon Go to become a completely online platform could be beneficial, and adjustments to Shadow Raids might signal a move towards that goal.
