As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of Pokemon-playing under my belt, I can hardly contain my excitement as Niantic unveils the long-awaited Dynamax and Gigantamax feature for Pokemon GO. The teaser trailer was the cherry on top of an already delicious cake that has been slowly baking since the release of Sword and Shield.

A fresh sneak peek for the game Pokemon GO suggests that the feature to employ Dynamax and Gigantamax is likely coming soon to the widely-played mobile game. Pokemon GO, known for its dynamic gameplay, frequently updates due to the different pocket monsters appearing in locations or gym battles taking place in various areas. Moreover, new content added by Niantic keeps the game fresh and exciting, ensuring that there’s always something new to explore within Pokemon GO.

Although the traditional Pokemon games keep introducing fresh creatures to their growing roster, the mobile version, Pokemon GO, lags slightly behind as players can’t catch every creature within the game yet. Despite popular demand for certain fan-favorite Pokemon, Niantic consistently introduces new batches of Pokemon into Pokemon GO each season and during special events. As a new season approaches, the developers of Pokemon GO have begun hinting at the upcoming debut of a new feature in the game.

Despite some early leaks of upcoming features in Pokemon GO potentially ruining surprises for fans, Niantic is now officially hinting at new content that should excite Generation 8 enthusiasts. A recently unveiled brief teaser video depicts a player engaging with Pokemon GO, followed by an enormous red portal appearing in the sky. Fans of Pokemon Sword and Shield may recognize this as a nod to the Dynamax and Gigantamax feature, which allows trainers to significantly enlarge their Pokemon, granting them new abilities and even new forms at times. Naturally, many players are speculating if legendary Pokemon Eternatus will also be introduced sooner rather than later when this feature becomes available.

Pokemon GO is Adding Dynamax and Gigantamax

Although some Pokemon GO enthusiasts might be just learning about Dynamaxing, this function was accidentally revealed prematurely by Niantic. Pioneers in data mining and leaking were the first to uncover that Bulbasaur would initially have the ability to Dynamax. Later on, a Pokemon GO update introduced a Dynamax filter icon for captured critters. Moreover, it’s plausible that Niantic intentionally hinted at this feature back in July when they published an 8th Anniversary post, featuring a dynamaxed Squirtle right smack in the image’s center.

In addition to Dynamaxing, Pokemon GO is set to introduce another exciting feature: Morpeko, a versatile new Pokemon that can switch between Electric and Dark types depending on its form. With Fully Belly Mode transforming it into an Electric type and Hangry Form changing it to Dark, this Pokemon could prove tricky to counter due to its shape-shifting nature. As of now, there’s no confirmed release date for Morpeko in the game.
