Origin Forme Dialga and Origin Forme Palkia Counters

To defeat Origin Forme Dialga and Origin Forme Palkia, as with any large Raid Boss, it’s highly recommended that you gather a team of at least four individuals. With coordination and strategy, you may potentially succeed with only three people, but having an additional person in your group can increase your chances of victory.

The original forms of Dialga and Palkia belong to the Dragon/Steel and Dragon/Water types respectively. Below you’ll find their weaknesses and resistances:

– Dialga is weak against: Dragon, Fairy, and Fighting moves. It resists: Electric, Fire, Ice, Rock, and Steel attacks.
– Palkia is weak against: Dragon, Fairy, and Water-type moves. It resists: Electric, Grass, Ice, and Fighting attacks.

Weaknesses Resistances
Origin Forme Dialga Fighting, Ground Grass, Water, Electric, Bug, Steel, Psychic, Flying, Normal, Rock
Origin Forme Palkia Dragon, Fairy Fire, Water, Steel

Your Pokemon’s Quick Move and Power Move ought to have types that exploit the vulnerabilities of Dialga or Palkia. Here are a few ideas:

1. Choose Fast Attacks and Charged Attacks that specifically counter Dialga or Palkia’s weaknesses.
2. Opt for moves that take advantage of the weak points of Dialga or Palkia with your Pokemon’s attacks.

Featured Attack: Roar of Time & Spacial Rend

How to Get Dialga/Palkia with Roar of Time/Spacial Rend

If you manage to win against either the Origin Forme in their specific Raid Battles, you’ll have an opportunity to capture them. If fortune smiles upon you, the Origin Forme Dialga/Palkia might even appear as Shiny. But remember, these Legendaries also possess their unique Charged Attacks: Roar of Time and Spacial Rend, which are worth adding to your collection too.

These Powerful Charged Attacks aren’t just potent in combat, they also boast an additional feature known as an Exploration Benefit. As the term suggests, Roar of Time/Spatial Rend can be employed during exploration while you’re catching Pokémon. Here are the Exploration Benefits for each move:

1. Roar of Time: It allows you to find Fossils and Evolution Stones when used in specific areas.
2. Spatial Rend: It helps you discover hidden items or Pokémon in certain locations.

  • Roar of Time: Requires 5000 Stardust and 5 Dialga Candy to activate its Adventure Effect. Roar of Time will pause the timer on Daily Incense, Incense, Star Pieces, and Lucky Eggs for 6 minutes. This timer can be extended up to two hours at the cost of more Stardust and Dialga Candy.
  • Spacial Rend: Requires 5000 Stardust and 5 Palkia Candy to activate its Adventure Effect. Spacial Rend extends the distance of wild Pokemon encounters for 10 minutes. Like Roar of Time, Spacial Rend’s timer can be extended up to two hours by using more Stardust and Palkia Candy.

Regrettably, it can’t be assured that your Origin Forme Dialga and Origin Forme Palkia will learn their signature moves at present. As of August 4, 2025, it isn’t possible to teach them the Roar of Time or Spacial Rend through an Elite Charged Technical Machine (TM). Whether this rule might be altered in the future is uncertain.

Which Adventure Effect is Better?

The usefulness of Roar of Time and Spacial Rend’s effects will vary on how you play the game.

It appears that the Roar of Time is particularly beneficial when your goal is to collect Stardust and XP. Additionally, the slower pace of the Incense and Daily Incense timers can also come in handy. However, it’s important to note that for Roar of Time’s Adventure Effect to be effective, you need the necessary items.

Spatial Rend performs optimally when you’re trying to capture Pokémon but can’t move from your current spot or go far distances. Additionally, the Adventure Effect of Spatial Rend lasts for about 4 minutes more than Roar of Time. However, it’s important to note that Spatial Rend doesn’t boost the Stardust or XP you earn from catching Pokémon.
