During the Dual Destiny season in Pokemon Go, a more potent variant of one of the all-time great Legendary Pokemon will make its debut in Shadow Raids – none other than the formidable Shadow Ho-Oh!

In the primary Pokemon series, Fire/Flying types suffered a significant blow when Stealth Rock made them less competitive due to their fourfold weakness. Fortunately, Stealth Rock doesn’t pose as much of a threat in Pokemon Go, allowing Ho-Oh and similar Pokemon to wreak more havoc.

In the upcoming season of Pokemon Go, titled Dual Destiny, players can expect an altered form of Johto’s fiery avian legend, known as Shadow Ho-Oh. This revelation was made official on the Pokemon Go website.

Shadow Ho-Oh Needs To Be Rescued In Pokemon Go

Starting this coming Sunday, January 19th, 2025, between 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., local time, Shadow Ho-Oh will appear in Shadow Raids. Players have just a few hours during these times to catch this Legendary bird.

When Shadow Ho-Oh appears in Pokemon Go, the following benefits will be applied:

  • Up to five additional free Raid Passes from spinning Gym Photo Discs (for a total of seven).
  • Increased chance of encountering Shiny Ho-Oh from Shadow Raids.

Apart from being able to catch a Shadow Ho-Oh, players also have the opportunity to teach it one of its strongest moves from the video games – Sacred Fire. During the event, if a player uses a Charged TM, they can bestow this powerful move upon Shadow Ho-Oh, making it even more formidable.

Individuals purchasing a unique Event ticket priced at $5 (local currency equivalent) can enjoy the listed advantages during the event on Sunday, January 19, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., based on local time.

  • Increased chance to get Rare Candy XL from Raid Battles
