The introduction of Max Battles has brought a fresh, exciting twist to the battle system, and it’s not just about catching ’em all anymore – it’s about maximizing them!

In a live-service format, Pokemon GO often introduces fresh, time-limited events, chances, and features for players to enjoy. These novel elements are typically introduced at the start of each new season, with certain aspects repeating during special events or as research rewards.

The Max Out season is no different from this, bringing a brand new feature for all players to participate in, known as Max Battles. If you find yourself curious about this new gameplay feature and want to know where you can find Max Battles and how they function, then all relevant information has been included in the guide below.

What Are Max Battles in Pokemon GO?

Pokemon GO: What Are Max Battles?

In the game Pokemon GO, there’s a fresh kind of battle called Max Battles, which operate much like Raids. Unlike Raids, these battles don’t involve Raid Bosses; instead, they showcase Dynamax Pokemon, as you might have noticed in the Galar Region. Unlike regular game objectives that appear at Gyms or Pokestops, Max Battles materialize at special locations known as ‘Power Spots’.

Interactive objectives called Power Spots may show up randomly on your map as you explore various places in your adventure. Unlike Raids with fixed spawn points, these Power Spots change locations occasionally on your local map, so it’s essential to stay alert when searching for them.

Power Spots offer players a chance to acquire Max Particles, which function much like Mega Energy. At times, these spots might even present a chance for a Max battle. Once you conquer a Dynamax Pokemon via Power Spots, trainers get the opportunity to catch that specific monster they’ve encountered. These caught Pokemon can then use Max Particles in battles for Dynamaxing, and certain eligible species will eventually be capable of Gigantamaxing. The only way to acquire Dynamax Pokemon is through Max Battles (except perhaps by trading with another player), so understanding Power Spots is definitely beneficial.

Here is a complete list of every Dynamax Pokemon that has been added to the game, so far:

  • Dynamax Charmander
  • Dynamax Bulbasaur
  • Dynamax Squirtle
  • Dynamax Wooloo
  • Dynamax Skwovet
