2025 has been an action-packed year for me, immersed in the world of Pokémon GO by Niantic and Scopely. First off, Taiwan and Los Angeles played host to the Pokémon GO Tour: Unova, where I battled Black and White Kyurem for the first time and stumbled upon Shiny Meloetta – both at live events and within the game itself. On top of that, Scopely arranged the Pokémon GO Fest 2025 across Osaka, Japan, New Jersey, USA, and Paris, France in mid-June. But the excitement surrounding Pokémon GO is showing no signs of letting up as we move into the latter half of 2025 and beyond – I’m anticipating Scopely to announce fresh events centered around the new features coming up in Pokémon Legends: Z-A!
Confirmed and Rumored Features of Pokemon Legends: Z-A

On October 16th, fans of Pokemon can revisit the Kalos region, which is reminiscent of France, for the first time since 2013 in the new game called Pokemon Legends: Z-A. The story unfolds primarily in Lumiose City, which has been revamped after the conclusion of the tale in Pokemon X and Y. In this game, players will assume the role of a young tourist who meets various new and familiar characters, such as AZ, who is 3,000 years old, and Urbain and Taunie, fellow young trainers. During their stay in Lumiose City, they’ll be given the option to pick a starter Pokemon among Chikorita, Tepig, or Totodile, and later participate in the competitive Z-A Royale, where they’ll battle other trainers for the opportunity to make one wish granted.
As a seasoned gamer stepping back into the world of Kalos after a long decade-and-a-half hiatus, I’m thrilled to find that Game Freak has brought back one of my favorite features from Pokemon X and Y – Mega Evolution! This time around in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, I can look forward to reacquiring a Mega Ring, Key Stone, and an assortment of Mega Stones. These items will enable me to push the boundaries of my Pokemon’s standard Evolution and temporarily Mega Evolve them into more powerful forms. The excitement is real!
In the upcoming game Z-A, Game Freak has previewed several returning Mega Evolutions, like those for Ampharos and Gardevoir. However, whispers have continued suggesting that Pokemon Legends: Z-A will introduce an impressive 27 new Mega Evolutions to the mix. These speculated new Mega Evolutions are rumored to be:
- Mega Clefable
- Mega Starmie
- Mega Victreebell
- Mega Dragonite
- Mega Meganium
- Mega Feraligatr
- Mega Skarmory
- Mega Froslass
- Mega Emboar
- Mega Scolipede
- Mega Excadrill
- Mega Eelektross
- Mega Scrafty
- Mega Chandelure
- Mega Chesnaught
- Mega Delphox
- Mega Greninja
- Mega Pyroar
- Mega Malamar
- Mega Barbaracle
- Mega Dragalge
- Mega Hawlucha
- Mega Eternal Flower Floette
- Mega Zygarde
- Mega Drampa
- Mega Falinks
Predicting Pokemon GO’s Inevitable Inclusion of Z-A Features

Since 2020, Niantic has incorporated Mega Evolution into Pokemon GO, suggesting that Scopely may also include new Mega Evolutions in their mobile game if the rumored new forms prove to be accurate. However, not all new Mega Evolutions might immediately debut in Pokemon GO, as Scopely is gradually introducing Pokemon from various series into the augmented reality game. For instance, Volcanion, which first appeared in 2015, was only recently added to Pokemon GO’s Pokedex during this summer season.
According to their history of releases, it’s likely that Scopely will gradually introduce the new Mega Evolutions into Pokemon GO sometime around late 2025 or early 2026. Characters like Mega Meganium, Mega Feraligatr, Mega Emboar, Mega Chesnaught, Mega Delphox, and Mega Greninja might be among the first to appear.
Introducing the anticipated new Mega Evolutions in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, slated for late 2025, might draw Pokemon GO players towards Z-A, but Scopely could also introduce additional features from the latest mainline Pokemon game. One such feature that stands out to incorporate into Pokemon GO is the Eternal Flower Floette from Z-A. While standard Floettes and their diverse flower forms are present in Pokemon GO, the peculiar Eternal Flower Floette partner has yet to appear. With this Fairy-type Pokemon rumored to be playable and set to undergo a Mega Evolution in Z-A, Scopely could arrange a Pokemon GO event centered around this Floette’s debut in spring 2026, aligning with the blooming of flowers.
