As a dedicated gamer, I can tell you that Pokemon GO is structured around seasons, offering exciting events for gamers of all levels. For those who love the thrill of catching rare, limited-time Pokemon during events like the Summer Concert, there’s nothing better than taking a leisurely walk with some groovy tunes as the backdrop. But if you’re more into strategic gameplay, you can join forces with other players to capture powerful creatures in regular raids. These events are designed to keep us hooked, whether we’re after the rewards of catching countless creatures or simply up for a challenge. Right now, we’re in the Delightful Days season, which will last until September and has already featured major events like GO Fest and our ninth anniversary. After that, we can expect things to calm down as the event cycles resume their normal pace.
Similar to Research Days and Hatch Days, Max Battle days provide an opportunity for players to capture rare Dynamax or Gigantamax Pokemon for a limited period on designated dates. The Max Battle Day featuring Latios and Latias is scheduled for July 26, marking the inaugural occasion when Legendary Pokemon can Dynamax and Mega Evolve in Pokemon GO. Following this event, there might be a less exciting Max Battle Day ahead as Gigantamax Butterfree will dominate Battle Spots on August 3. However, Gigantamax Butterfree may not offer long-term value compared to Latios or Latias, making it a tougher proposition for players.
Giantamax Butterfree Has Too Little Behind It to Justify The Effort
Why Gigantamax Butterfree is Better For Collecting and Not Battling
During the kickoff of Delightful Days season, a glimpse of Gigantamax Butterfree was hinted at. This was shown in the promotional video for the event. Consequently, players with knowledge about how Pokemon stats correspond to the mobile game could predict how the Butterfly Pokemon’s Gigantamax stats from Pokemon Sword and Shield would perform. However, the performance was underwhelming; Gigantamax Butterfree has a minimal yield compared to other Bug-type alternatives and is expected to be swapped out by most teams for something superior as more Dynamax and Gigantamax Pokemon are introduced.
Gigantamax Butterfree’s Stats
- 167 Attack, 137 Defense, 155 Stamina
- Max CP at Level 50: 2065
- Dynamax Moves: G-Max Befuddle, Max Guard, Max Spirit
- Fast Moves: Struggle Bug, Confusion, Bug Bite
- Charge Moves: Bug Buzz, Signal Beam, Psychic
Pokemon GO Players Might Not Want to Waste Time Shiny-Hunting Gigantamax Butterfree
For some gamers, the main appeal of the event lies in the opportunity to capture a Gigantamax Shiny Butterfree. While what makes a good shiny can vary among players, the only distinction for Gigantamax Butterfree is the color change in its eyes, hands, and feet. The wings, which make up most of the Pokemon’s design, remain unchanged and are the only visible difference in the shiny form. Since Max Battles require a significant investment of time and resources, some might argue that investing three hours to catch this particular shiny is not worth it due to the minimal visual change.
Instead of Dynamaxing Butterfree right now, players might prefer to hold off and wait for a more desirable Bug-Type or Shiny Pokemon, such as Volcarona, which could be introduced later. While fans of Butterfree are encouraged to give it a try, the limited number of players at the Battle Spots could impact their chances of catching the Gigantamax Butterfly Pokemon in time. Once Dynamax Latios and Latias have appeared, details about the next Max Battle Day should be revealed soon after, and hopefully, it will feature a more exciting creature to chase.
