Pokemon GOs Newest Poke Ball Sounds Like Game-Changer with a Catch

As a dedicated Pokemon GO player with years of experience under my belt and countless hours spent collecting every critter from Kanto to Galar, I must admit that I’m both excited and a tad disappointed about the upcoming Safari Ball in the Wild Area 2024 event.

During the Wild Area 2024 event in November, Pokemon GO enthusiasts who attend either the live event in Fukuoka, Japan or the Global event will be given an opportunity to test out the game’s latest Poke Ball – the Safari Ball. This classic type of Poke Ball, known from the main series games, is making its debut in Pokemon GO. While it appears to be a valuable tool for players aiming to augment their collection during this event, there’s a notable downside that may prevent it from reaching its full potential.

In the past, Pokemon GO has been known to roll out fresh variations of Poke Balls during special events. Beast Balls, which were initially introduced in Gen 7, made their debut in Pokemon GO during Pokemon GO Fest 2022. These Poke Balls are tailor-made for capturing Ultra Beasts and prove particularly effective for these elusive creatures. However, they aren’t as beneficial for most other Pokemon. On the other hand, Safari Balls have a broader catching range than Beast Balls, but both types of balls share a common disadvantage in Pokemon GO.

Pokemon GO’s Safari Ball Makes it Easier to Catch Mons, But Only for a Limited Time

Pokemon GO’s Version of the Safari Ball Follows its Main Series Counterpart’s Lead

In the primary Pokemon series, Safari Balls have been a feature since Generation 1, initially handed to players to utilize exclusively within the Safari Zone. These balls can only be used inside the Safari Zone, and conversely, they are the exclusive type of ball that can be employed in this particular location. Despite the Safari Zone and related areas being removed in more recent generations, the Safari Ball continues to be a unique Poke Ball, serving as a display item for players and an option for aesthetic purposes when catching wild Pokemon.

As an avid Pokemon GO enthusiast, I’m thrilled that they’re bringing Poke Balls back to their origins! During the Wild Area 2024 event, these coveted Poke Balls are up for grabs exclusively for participants. However, getting a hold of Safari Balls isn’t easy; they can only be acquired through special Timed Research handed out to those with Wild Area tickets. On top of that, these rare balls might just appear at PokeStops during the event, but only for the lucky players holding tickets.

Why the Safari Ball is a Double-Edged Sword for Pokemon GO Players

The main attraction of employing Safari Balls in the Pokemon GO Wild Area event lies in their enhanced capture success rate. Much like the original Safari Balls before Generation 8, these balls in Pokemon GO significantly boost your chances of catching the desired creature, making them ideal for capturing some of the uncommon monsters that will appear during the event. However, due to their limited availability and expiration date, these Safari Balls will only be beneficial for the brief duration of the Wild Area event.

As a gamer, I’ve learned that during the live Wild Area event in Fukuoka, Japan, my trusty old Safari Balls might not perform as effectively as usual. Niantic has shared this bit of info, so it’s best to pack some Ultra or Master Balls just in case!

Similar to Beast Balls, Safari Balls are specially designed Poke Balls that are intended to be a fantastic new recurring event-exclusive type. They provide players with an enhanced opportunity to catch rare Pokemon during these events. However, due to their exclusivity tied to specific events, they don’t fully realize their potential as a valuable addition to Pokemon GO.
