As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of Pokemon-playing experience under my belt, I must say that the latest rumors surrounding the starters for Pokemon Legends: Z-A have sparked quite the excitement within our gaming community. The prospect of Chespin, Froakie, and Fennekin making a return as starters is intriguing enough, but the twist that these Gen 6 starters might undergo some changes has got us all on the edge of our seats!
As we anticipate the launch of Pokemon Legends: Z-A, several well-known leakers within the Pokemon community suggest that the Generation 6 starter trio – Chespin, Froakie, and Fennekin – may appear together in their upcoming title. However, these starters might have a surprising twist according to the rumors.
The video game titled “Pokemon Legends: Z-A” was announced for Nintendo Switch towards the end of February, as a follow-up to the success of 2022’s “Pokemon Legends: Arceus.” This new title is set in the Kalos region, a place initially introduced in “Pokemon X and Y,” which bears a resemblance to real-life France. The game has already been teased with the inclusion of the Mega-Evolution feature, marking its introduction into the “Legends” spin-off series. The title’s name hints that the narrative may revolve around the legendary Pokemon Zygarde.
The rumor from late October hinted that the starting trio in Pokemon Legends: Z-A would once again be Chespin, Froakie, and Fennekin, just like they were at the beginning of the games set in the Kalos region. This leak was shared by a well-known Pokemon leaker named CentroLeaks. Recently, another Pokemon leaker, Riddler Khu, posted a cryptic message that seems to reinforce this rumor. The message from Riddler Khu indicates that if these Gen-6 starters return for the new game, they will have some unique twist or difference compared to their original forms.
Pokemon Legends Z-A Starters Rumored as Altered Gen-6 Starters
If the rumors prove true, it’s expected that the initial three Pokemon (Rowlett, Cyndaquil, and Oshawatt) from different generations will receive updated designs and types in Pokemon Legends: Arceus. Originally, these starters didn’t debut in the region where both Pokemon Legends: Arceus and the trio of Pokemon Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum were set. However, the starters in Pokemon Legends: Arceus have been altered from their original forms upon their final evolution. For instance, Hisuian Decidueye has replaced its Flying secondary type with Fighting, Hisuian Typhlosion has gained a secondary Ghost typing, and Hisuian Samurott now has a secondary Dark typing.
As a dedicated fan, I can’t help but point out that Riddler Khu’s cryptic messages have often fueled various speculations about the upcoming starter trio for Pokémon Legends: Z-A. For instance, remember that enigmatic post from early October that read “3 5 8”? This had many fans guessing that the new starters would hail from the third, fifth, and eighth generations of the classic trios.
