Pokemon Legends Z-A: A Big Ol’ Bunnelby Walkthrough

In Pokemon Legends: Z-A, once you start assisting Emma with investigations, you’ll receive side quests on your map. One of these is called “A Big Ol’ Bunnelby,” where a citizen of Lumiose City named Travelle reports seeing a giant Bunnelby wandering around the area.

This large Bunnelby isn’t limited to specific areas, so there’s a concern it could cause trouble in the city if not dealt with properly. This guide will show you where to find it and how to win the battle.

So, I talked to Travelle about that giant Pokémon, and he asked me to meet him in a hidden alley where he first saw it. To find exactly where he is, I had to turn on guidance mode for the quest. That put a marker right on my map, so I could follow it to him.

When you start the quest, the game will suggest using guidance mode. If you skipped that initial prompt, you can still enable it later. Simply open the mission list by pressing X on the map, switch to the Side Missions tab by pressing R, and then turn on guidance for the “Big Ol’ Bunnelby” quest by pressing A.

Go to the location marked on your map to find Travelle, and speak with him to start the battle against the giant Bunnelby.

How to Defeat the Alpha Bunnelby in Pokemon Legends: Z-A

This large Bunnelby is a special, powerful form called an Alpha Pokémon, meaning it has much more health than a normal one. Even though it’s only level 10, it can quickly defeat your entire team if you’re not careful. It will also actively try to attack you directly, so be ready to dodge! Press the Y button to roll away from its attacks when it targets you. If you get hit too much, you’ll faint.

Bunnelby is a Normal-type Pokemon, making it vulnerable to Fighting-type attacks and completely unaffected by Ghost-type moves. Its Defense and Special Defense stats are very similar, so it doesn’t have a significant weakness to either physical or special attacks. Bunnelby’s movepool is limited to Earth Power, Leer, and Tackle. This means if you battle it with a Flying-type Pokemon, Tackle will be the only attack it can use to deal damage.

Feel free to change your Pokemon during battles – it’s a great strategy! Use Potions and Super Potions to heal, but keep in mind you can only use one item from your bag at a time, and each use has a short delay before you can use another.

If your team is defeated by the large Bunnelby, you’ll be taken back to a Pokémon Center and can continue the optional quest whenever you’re ready.

When a Bunnelby is close to being defeated, your chances of catching it go up significantly, making it much easier to successfully throw a Poke Ball and add it to your team.
