Trainers playing Pokemon Legends: Z-A can now get a free, powerful Alpha Charizard as a special gift! The Pokemon Company recently released a code to help players prepare for the upcoming Mega Dimension DLC. You have a little over a month to add this unique Charizard to your team.

Charizard, often called the Flame Pokemon, was first introduced in the original Pokemon Red and Blue games. It’s special because it was the very first Fire-type Pokemon you could start with and fully evolve. Starting as Charmander and then becoming Charmeleon, it gains the ability to fly upon its final evolution into Charizard. Since its debut, Charizard has become incredibly popular with fans and is one of the most well-known Pokemon of all time, inspiring countless pieces of fan art.

Ahead of the release of the Mega Dimension DLC, Pokemon Legends: Z-A players can get a special Charizard for a limited time. By using the code B1G0006 before January 19, 2026, players can receive an Alpha Charizard in a Cherish Ball. This Charizard will be level 36 with a randomly assigned Nature, affecting its stats. It will know the moves Flamethrower, Air Slash, Dragon Claw, and Solar Beam, providing coverage against various Pokemon types, including Grass, Water, and Dragon.

After playing for about an hour or two and completing the early part of the main story in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, you’ll unlock the Mystery Gift feature. Along with a special Charizard gift, you can get useful items to help you prepare for the new Mega Dimension area. You’ll also receive Mega Stones that let you battle and catch the Legendary Pokemon Mewtwo and Diancie through special missions. Trainers have until February 2026 to claim a Ralts holding a Gardevoirite Mega Stone as a Mystery Gift. You don’t need a Nintendo Switch Online membership to redeem these gifts.

How to Train Your Charizard

In Pokemon Legends: Z-A, you can get Charizard by choosing Charmander during Side Mission 20 and evolving it, or by catching a Charmander in the Wild Zone after you finish the main story. Once fully evolved, Charizard is a powerful and flexible fighter, able to effectively use both physical and special attacks. Its moves like Flamethrower, Dragon Rush, and Air Slash allow it to attack from a distance, surprising opponents. However, Charizard is especially vulnerable to Rock-type attacks such as Stone Edge and Power Gem, meaning it can deal a lot of damage but is also easily defeated.

Charizard can become even more powerful through Mega Evolution using either the Charizardite X or Charizardite Y Mega Stone, both available for 100,000 PokeDollars at the Stone Emporium in Lumiose City. Mega Charizard X focuses on strong physical attacks, while Mega Charizard Y excels in special attacks. Pokemon trainers should tailor their Charizard’s stats and Effort Values (EVs) to match the chosen Mega Evolution form.
