Pokemon Legends: Z-A DLC Skips Flygon Mega Evolution

Be warned: this article contains spoilers for the Mega Dimension DLC of Pokemon Legends: Z-A. The new Mega Dimension expansion for Pokemon Legends: Z-A introduced some new Mega Evolution forms, but unfortunately didn’t include Mega Flygon, despite many requests from players over the years. While Pokemon like Chimecho and Raichu received Mega Evolutions in the DLC, Flygon fans will have to continue waiting.

Flygon, often called the Mystic Pokemon, was first introduced in the Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire games. It’s the final evolution of Trapinch and Vibrava, and combines Ground and Dragon-type powers. Flygon can create sandstorms by flapping its wings. Its Levitate ability makes it immune to Ground-type attacks, adding to its defenses against Poison and Fire. Although it’s vulnerable to Ice-type moves, Flygon’s well-rounded stats and high HP make it a strong and adaptable Pokemon to use in battle. Despite the return of many older Pokemon in the Mega Dimension DLC, like Farfetch’d and Mime Jr., Flygon is notably absent from Pokemon Legends: Z-A, even though it was featured in Pokemon X and Y.

Many Pokémon from the Hoenn region, like Chimecho, were given Mega Evolutions in the Mega Dimension DLC, but Flygon was surprisingly left out. This didn’t escape the notice of players of Pokémon Legends: Z-A, and some joked about it on the game’s subreddit. One user, Salty145, pointed out that the Scovillainite Mega Stone shares a similar color scheme to Flygon’s green and red. Fans have been requesting a Mega Evolution for Flygon for years, but the newer Pokémon, Scovillain (first seen in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet), received a new form instead. Other Pokémon from the Paldea region that gained Mega Evolutions in the Mega Dimension expansion include Baxcalibur, Glimmora, and Tatsugiri.

When the new expansion was announced, many Pokémon fans pointed out that some Pokémon like Garchomp have received multiple evolutions, while others, like Flygon, were left out. Unfortunately, Flygon being excluded isn’t entirely unexpected. Data discovered while looking into the game’s code revealed no plans for Flygon to appear in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, or to receive a new evolution. Flygon last appeared in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet as part of the ‘The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero’ DLC, and fans hoping for a power-up will need to continue waiting for The Pokémon Company to add it in the future.

Flygon wasn’t included in Pokemon Legends: Z-A or its Mega Dimension DLC, but it might have a chance to appear in the next Pokemon games. Whether Flygon will be in Pokemon Generation 10 is still unknown, and The Pokemon Company may have more surprises planned for fans of Pokemon Legends: Z-A.

The Mega Dimension expansion for Pokemon Legends: Z-A adds new challenges for players who have finished the main game. Throughout Lumiose City, special wormholes will appear, leading to Hyperspace Lumiose – a parallel version of the city with incredibly powerful Pokemon. These Pokemon can exceed the usual level cap of 100 and include previously unseen Mega Evolution forms, like Mega Absol Z. Players should make sure their entire team is leveled up to 100 and prepared for a significant challenge before venturing into the ever-changing areas of Hyperspace Lumiose. The Mega Dimension DLC is available now on the Nintendo eShop for $29.99.
