Farfetch’d Ambush is a side quest in the Pokemon Legends: Z-A Mega Dimension DLC. It challenges players to battle three powerful Pokemon one after another, using only a single Pokemon and without any healing in between each fight.
Completing this mission will earn you the False Swipe TM, a really helpful item that makes it much easier to catch rare and difficult Pokémon. Here’s how to get it.
Farfetch’d Ambush Walkthrough in Pokemon Legends: Z-A
You can begin the Farfetch’d Ambush side quest by speaking with Bouche, a berry seller located just outside the Jaune Pokemon Center in the southeast area of Lumiose City. This quest becomes available after you’ve started the Mega Dimension DLC.
Bouche mentioned a rumor: if you visit Rouge Sector 7 at night with just a Farfetch’d holding a Leek in your party, and defeat anyone who challenges you, you’ll get a free Leek from him. He’s offering one to anyone who wants to test the rumor out.
You can find this place just south of [location name], in the northern part of town. Just follow the quest marker on your screen. To continue, make sure you meet these requirements:
- Only have a single (or Galarian Farfetch’d) in your party.
- Give your Farfetch’d a Leek to hold (found under Other Items in the Satchel).
- Change the time of day to night.
When everything is ready, a short video will play, and you’ll be challenged to a battle by the first of three trainers who use Farfetch’d.
How to Beat Farfetch’d in Farfetch’d Ambush in Pokemon Legends: Z-A Mega Dimension
This battle challenges players to defeat three Farfetch’d trainers in a row, but with a twist: they can only use their own Farfetch’d to do it.
| Trainer | Pokemon |
|---|---|
| Chevalier | Farfetch’d (Level 80) |
| Louie | Farfetch’d (Level 84) |
| Bouche | Alpha Farfetch’d (Level 89) |
The standard Farfetch’d is a Normal and Flying-type Pokémon, but the Galarian Farfetch’d is only Fighting-type. This means regular Farfetch’d has a significant edge in battle because its Flying-type attacks hit twice as hard. Since the three trainers in Side Mission 133 all use regular Farfetch’d, using a Galarian Farfetch’d against them would put you at a big disadvantage.
Farfetch’d Ambush Moves Loadout
Use the following loadout for your Farfetch’d to easily win against these trainers:
| Pokemon | (Normal/Flying) |
|---|---|
| Level | 95-100 |
| Nature | Adamant |
| Moves |
|
Farfetch’d Ambush Battle Strategy
If your Farfetch’d has strong stats and an Adamant nature (or you use an Adamant Mint), Aerial Ace can defeat the first two opposing Farfetch’d in one hit. If they survive with very little health, use Quick Attack to finish them off before they can attack.
During the third fight with Alpha Farfetch’d, you might need to use Protect to withstand one of its attacks if Aerial Ace and Quick Attack don’t finish it off. Then, use Slash to win the battle.
If you’re worried about using Protect at the right moment, you can switch to Gust instead – it’s another strong, same-type attack.
Farfetch’d Ambush Rewards
If you win against all three Farfetch’d trainers, you’ll get these rewards:
- 4,600 Poke Dollars
- False Swipe TM
How to Get Farfetch’d in Pokemon Legends: Z-A
In Pokemon Legends: Z-A, you can find Farfetch’d in 2-Star Hyperspace Wild Zones that are Normal-type. If you want to find one, go to Lumiose City and rest on a bench to refresh all the Hyperspace distortions. Then, keep an eye out for a distortion with a Farfetch’d-shaped silhouette in the 2-Star Normal-type areas.
You can find Galarian Farfetch’d in 3-Star Fighting-type Hyperspace Wild Zones, but it lives in different areas than the regular Farfetch’d. Despite being available, we don’t recommend using one for this particular mission.
Side Mission 133 requires either a Galarian or standard Farfetch’d to participate; other Pokémon are not eligible.
It takes about 100 Exp. Candy L to raise a Level 20 Farfetch’d all the way to Level 100. You can quickly collect a lot of these candies by playing in 3 and 4-Star Hyperspace Wild Zones – just gather items and break the floating Poke Balls you find there.
