Pokemon Legends: Z-A Has The Perfect Tie-In With One Evolution Line

Pokemon Legends: Z-A Has The Perfect Tie-In With One Evolution Line

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I’ve seen it all – from the humble beginnings of our beloved Pokemon franchise to its current global phenomenon status. And among the countless creatures that have graced our screens, there’s one that holds a special place in my heart, and I believe it deserves a spot in the upcoming Pokemon Legends: Z-A – the Porygon line!

In the upcoming game, Pokemon Legends: Z-A, various Pokemon from different generations will make their return. Among these, there’s one specific Pokemon line that appears to be an ideal fit for this title, especially following Pokemon Legends: Arceus. Speculation, whispers, and hints have been circulating about Pokemon Legends: Z-A before its launch, discussing possibilities such as the chosen starter Pokemon or the development of Mega Evolutions. However, one particular Pokemon line stands out as a likely inclusion for a game like Legends: Z-A.

Between Legends: Z-A’s teased urban redevelopment story and the history behind one of Pokemon’s first man-made yet maligned Pokemon, the Porygon line has become a cross-generational classic that any player can instantly recognize. Given how many potential details there are connecting a Pokemon line like Porygon’s to Legends: Z-A, it feels like the Pokemon would inevitably be included in its Pokedex. But with Porygon and its evolutions yet to be confirmed, Game Freak shouldn’t overlook the perfect opportunity for the Virtual Pokemon to appear in Legends: Z-A.

In the unveiling of the trailer for “Legends: Z-A”, it became evident that the game was deviating from the historical and feudal setting of “Legends: Arceus”. Alongside additional information about the storyline and location, the trailer’s futuristic aesthetics hint at a setting in the near future, where players will re-explore the Kalos region, focusing on Lumiose City. However, despite Porygon, Porygon2, and Porgyon-Z fitting perfectly as the game’s virtual Pokemon, they were not featured in the initial reveal.

Although the absence of Porygon in the trailer for Pokemon: Legends Z-A may have initially disappointed fans of this particular Pokemon species, it doesn’t necessarily mean they won’t appear in the game. In fact, Pokemon Legends: Arceus successfully incorporated these man-made Pokemon and many others, regardless of their origin, thanks to its time-space distortions. This suggests that there is still a chance that Pokemon Legends: Z-A could follow suit by featuring Porygon, just like its predecessor did. However, Pokemon Legends: Z-A has the potential to do more than simply include Porygon in its Pokedex; Porygon offers unique possibilities that mainline Pokemon games have yet to explore.

Porygon’s Untapped Potential for Pokemon Legends: Z-A

Z-A” revolves around urban development. A fictional Pokemon named Porygon, which grows stronger by using Upgrades and Dubious Discs, seems ideally suited for such a narrative. If Game Freak doesn’t provide Porygon with a region-specific final evolution called Porygon3, they could still incorporate the Pokemon line or give players a Porygon as a promotional tactic for “Legends: Z-A”. Even if Porygon’s true final evolution is Porygon-Z, this also aligns well with “Legends: Z-A” since Porygon-Z shares a part of its name, giving Game Freak another opportunity to integrate this specific Pokemon line seamlessly into the game.

Pokemon Legends: Z-A’s Porgyon Could Give Rotom a Break

Instead of continually using Rotom for phones and Pokédex in their current games, Game Freak could have taken advantage of a distinctive feature with Porygon by introducing the concept of a “Poryphone” in “Legends: Z-A”. Although it’s improbable that they would replace the Rotom Phone due to its significant role in games like “Pokémon Sword” and “Shield”, and more recently “Pokémon Scarlet” and “Violet”, the Poryphone originated from Pasio, which is another artificially created region. This region aligns with the storyline of “Legends: Z-A” that revolves around Lumiose City’s urban redevelopment.
